I make all mine now, and they work really well... after making maybe a few cables that sucked dick I got the hang of it. I used to use all Lava, but making them was a pain in the arse - I had too many random short circuits in them - I'd inspect the bastards, they'd look good, and they'd still ground out. But what did it for me was redoing my board (which I hate, so I'm not a change-em-round-every-other-day guy) I found a whole bunch that had loosened, and man, I tightened the living crap out of those cables so they shouldn't have loosened. I'm pretty careful packing and unpacking my gear, so the nagging worry of stuff coming loose, and randomly shorting did my head in. Apart from my own cables, I like Hosa pancakes, and the el cheapos that Schlatte uses, got plenty of them. I only really changed because I needed different lengths and it was cheaper and easier to make my own. And I'm kinda an anal perfectionist/nerd about some things, so that probably played its part.

This is the current layout. I'm in need of some sort of bypass loops or something so I can expand the selection a bit. My Rainbow Machine and Sea Machine had an awful fight over that madulation spot, and my Fuck OD and ALgal Bloom had a terrible falling out when I chose the AB to be post modulation dirt. I plan on building a board very similar to this that I can use as my primary, and take to jam and whatnot, and have a secondary board to add to it for my around the house playtime.

Bass board:

Basses through Carbon Copies might be the only way to make CCs sound good.

My board for last night's / this morning's synth jams. Drones & dissonant bursts -> crazy modulation -> dirt -> modulated reverb =
