Hmmm that's certainly an option...

I have a Dean Markley GT-1000 for the exact same purpose. They are dirt cheap too. I actually got two of them to play in stereo. Anyway, they are not super great, but I still was kind of surprised by it. They take pedals pretty okay for such small/cheap amps. For that price, you can always try it out I guess. That is what I thought too and it worked out for me! AND they sell a transparant version, looks pretty damn cool :joy:

And if you really, really don't want to piss of neighbours, you can always buy a Smokey Amp. Sounds cool at low volumes but it is a one trick pony and it doesn't take pedals well at all.

Ofcourse, there is always the Fuzzhugger Pipe Amp, but I haven't tried one myself yet so I don't know how loud it is. From the demos it sounds like it covers the Smokey Amp territory with a little more versatility.

The Pipe Amp is definitely too dirty for my needs (which is essentially only clean over here). Don't really see the GT-1000 for sale anywhere, but I'll check some stores near me.

Helter wrote:If you mean those little white vox's they are so awesome. I would love to grab one of those one day and probably will.

Yeah those small ones! I really love my AC15C1 and one day I'll (hopefully) own a Handwired AC30 but for right now I'm leaning towards this one, though I really do need to try everything out one of these days. The price is nice ($200) though at that price point the Excelsior starts to entice me for a hundred more... oh man that's probably latent GAS acting up again. Gotta sleep on it.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'll still take more to get even more indecisive...haha.

Muse FTW wrote:Oh does anyone have recommendations for good small amps? Just something small and it doesn't need to get too loud, just something to play in my dorm without upsetting the neighbors. If it's cheap that's even better hahaha...

I'm thinking about the Greta, but I don't remember how well that was received (or if anyone actually got one) or perhaps one of those smaller Vox 4W deals.

I have a Greta. It is my living room amp. Full Volume is fuzzy and won't bother neighbors. Never tried it with Pedals though. The overall sound is nice on a lofi level. Bass response is ok, in respect to the tiny speaker it is very good.
Table Top amp for just playing and having Fun i would recommend it. Pipe amp is a lot more dirty.

Make sure you run it with a massive fuzz behind. = Synth goodness! If you don't have one get the Oxide, definitely.

Yeah I plan on eventually having both the Oxide and Frantabit. It's more a question of which one I get next. I'm leaning towards the Frantabit next and the Oxide later, since I already have fuzz to work with but no bit crusher on my board.

The Minifuck is SO GOOD. The bass control and bias

I want a nice soldering station like that pretty badly. I've been using the same $15 Weller for every pedal I've built though and it's served me well.

I've been through 7 Radioshack irons over the past 3 years. Maybe Christmas will warrant a legit iron

I don't think they make these anymore but so you can buy some old stock in some ebay stores or amazon I think. I recently got mine on Amazon.
