Don't get me wrong....I like the unpolished stuff, I linseed oil and beeswax my builds. But this stuff looks snaggly... I see where the guy grinded down the welds. And I would wanna get my finger stuck in the upper f hole... plus that nut spacing and headstock tree just look awkward....But I like looking at them as art pieces...

I wanna see an aluminum builder that pays attention to detail but retains an industrial utilitarian look.
Maybe some faux binding etching... I don't mind little imperfections that give it character.

I love the oil finish on my Telemaster. It just makes it feel like it is something to be played rather than kept immaculate, you know? Maybe the same goes for the mindset behind the not-so-finished aluminum?

I love oil finish as well. Also really starting to favor satin. Both those result in a guitar feeling like wood as opposed to some super glossy poly finishes that make me think plastic when I touch 'em.

Yep, that's why I like it too. As much as I like my Jazzmaster and my Jaguar, the Telemaster feels so much like something youre SUPPOSED to play. I don't feel like shit when it gets a ding in it, nor am I afraid to actually play it!

i remember this guy's work from back in the * cough * myspace days.
it's interesting that he's casting the necks rather than milling ( or welding ) ... tymguitars did them that way when he made a few amazing mosriteish metal necks.
you're left with a lot of grinding and polishing work to get back to something resembling a guitar neck - hence the rough-hewn look of the back of the headstock.

looks like hard work to me, but i love how it pushes the aesthetic of the thing into a different, sculptural/carved kind of feel.
probably wouldn't suit me as a player by the look of it.

i never did research how the kramer necks were cast ... probably some other, neater kind of casting process ( ? ) ... i know they farmed out the work to another metalworking company/foundry.
