SMMH is the best all around delay at that price point imo.
Ibanez DE7 is a cheapy but a good one.

If you want boutique check out the DMB lunar echo...slightly over 200, maybe less if you find one used.
The take off switch looks like a blast and it supposedly does the "tape" thing very well.
There are some that call me...morningstaru?

I play an Earthquaker Devices Disaster Transport. BY FAR the best digital delay under $200 :thumb:

http://www.analoguehaven.com/earthquake ... transport/

The thing sounds so analog that many reviews you will read call it an analog delay. I recently put it up against a DMM and it really held its own.

I know I'm perhaps a bit biased because it has a place on my board, but I can say with certainty that it is the best delay for its price. ($189) Especially if your going to go "boutique" on your delay.

It also has on-board modulation which is pretty rad.

With all due respect to everyone (I think ya'll are very much on point), I feel a bit uncomfortable buying Electro Harmonix gear used - I have just had to much of their stuff crap out on me over the years.

In the interests of providing an alternative option...

Akai Headhrush. It's not fancy, but the digital delay is very good, the tape delay is excellent, and it's a very capable looper as well. No idea what it goes for in the US, but in the UK it's about £140.

Not saying it's better than anything else mentioned, but it's an option.

It goes for $199 in America. Damn -- that's a good $30-$40 less than what you pay.

I kind of assumed this was about Digital Delays that sound "clinical"... i.e., not emulations of analog delays or anything that even sounds analog unintentionally...

For clean digital repeats, I'd say any DD-whatever is good... The DD-20 gives you a lot of options, but it won't do the pitch-shifting effects I like like the DD-3. It doesn't even really do the chopping/glitching sound that some delays produce, or it does, but it doesn't sound the same as other delays that do this...

The DD-3 sounds very clean, but it still colors the signal... It's hardly a "precise/clinical" recreation of the input, but it doesn't sound "analogy", either.

I also like the Alesis Nanoverb's delay for really clean stuff, but the parameters are pretty inflexible, which is not so great... Does the fun digital glitching noise when you adjust the, uh... "ADJUST" knob, though.

My thought was that he was asking for something that offered more options than a typical analog delay.

Granted, the one I recommended can be used in a rather analog sounding way, it does have quite a bit of control and flexibility over sound that analog delays cannot offer.

But I agree --- if we're talking about just a super crisp digital sound I would say DD20 as well. :thumb:

Fix'd for you.

The Echobox's infinite repeats are an interesting option, but I love the modulation on the Sunny Day Delay. There should be more people getting that pedal since it's so lush (probably mixes really well with the Cosmichorus).
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?

Current ILF Love: OHNOHO CHK CHK BOOM, Mellowtone Melx Fuzz 2, EQD Dream Crusher, Devi Ever ID, Dr. Scientist Proto-Miniberator - new vids eventually
