New Ty Segall
I know garage rock isn't the most appreciated genre 'round these parts... but I've always loved Ty Segall and was wondering if anyone is diggin'/not diggin' his new album "Twins". I know I've met a few dudes who like his stuff on here.

Love me some Ty Segall. Twins is great. It's the classic Ty album I've been waiting for all year.

Thanks!
I'd have to say my favorite song from "Twins" is probably "Thank God for Sinners"

In terms of this years triple header releases, I gotta give my vote to Slaughterhouse. But I think Twins is great, like fuzzywolf said, it's that classic Ty sound.

Re: New Ty Segall
People love garage around here. Take it back.
i still haven't heard this one but when I saw him a few months back they played one track from this and it was great. Reading interviews with him made it seem like this album was gonna be great. His albums this year were basically my way of telling how much time has passed this year. THREE ALBUMS?! Damn...
I haven't listened yet but I shall.

I know there are some fans but in that thread about things bands should stop doing I saw alot of garage stuff taking a hit.

Oh probably about how much extra of that shit exist...however, Ty is one of the few doing it well and also evolving instead of making the same album over and over and over...love him.

I will say Slaughterhouse was fantastic. It definitely showed us what Ty can do. Wave Goodbye probably has one of the best fuzzy riffs/chord progressions in my opinion.

well, there have been a lot of mediocre garage-rock outfits in the last 20 years. when you say "garage rock" to me nowadays it's like saying "ska"...the terms have become so associated with lame derivative artists who have little to do with the original vibe that when i hear a band use that descriptor i cringe.

I agree with dubkitty. When I try to explain "garage rock" to people, they immediately respond with "like greenday?"
To me, garage is super lo-fi, beautifully unrefined music ...cleaned up with just a touch of surfy overtones.

I love this album. Thank God For Sinners is an instant classic in my book. Definitely my favorite of the 3 releases this year, but as far as I'm concerned Melted is still my favorite Ty album.
Also, apparently he went on one of the Chicago morning news shows and freaked the fuck out LOL:
