Best digital delay under 200?
I've always been into analog delays, never quite felt right about digital delays... Stupid, really. Anyway, I am drawn to the dark side, the clinical edge and versatility of a DD. Much though I'd love something amazing, it would have to be under $200.
Do you pretty much stick with the Boss or Digitech ones, or are there any cool boutique ones you can recommend?
How about the Behringers - worth spending 30-50 bucks or are you basically just flushing money down the toilet?
Cheers.

I got me a DD-7 and to be honest I've always disliked Boss pedals because, well...
Everybody and their cousin (who is in the army) uses them. But I got one and I like it a lot.

Hardwire DL-8!!!
It's about 150 bones but well worth it. I compared the Boss DD-7 and the Hardwire DL-8 side by side and it just destroys the DD-7. Oh, and the reverse is just stupid sick on it.

An oxymoron as a title.
Ok If you have to go digital, the line 6 is the best I’ve heard.

i would have loved to have gotten a Hardwire Delay. i still wouldn't mind having/using a Digidelay.
i want to get a Behringer Delay just so i can see for myself if there isn't a bit of Corksniffing going on w/those pedals.

Does it have to be new? You can get a used TC Nova Delay for under 200. I'm currently using a DD-20, but I've been thinking about trading to a Nova. Or I might just save up to upgrade to the Timefactor.
BTW MM - I only like analog delays for making spaceships take off during noise jams. If I'm using delay during an actual song, I actually prefer digital. To me, analogs sound like complete mud if you're actively playing over them.

I'd say Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai, DL-4, DE-7, DD-5 (reverse and external tap tempo)(and can be had for around $100 used, and the get a memory boy and your set for delays). The first two options SMMH and DL4 have loopers, which are great practice tools. In the case of the Dl4 great live tool as well.

bubstance wrote:For me it's a Digitech PDS-1002 or nothing. It was part of Digitech's dual effect/Boss-killer pedal line in the '80's. Definitely the best analog sound out of a digital delay (if you're still kind of on the edge about digital). It's not the most versatile thing in the universe (it's got two seconds available), but soundwise it cannot be beat, in my opinion. You can score one on the 'bay for between $50 and $175 (for some crazy circuit bent ones), mostly because those who have them, like me, don't want to get rid of it. I've got two.I got the first one for free and the second for $75 shipped just a week or so ago.
But, if you want versatility... I'd say either a DD-7 or a Line 6 DL4, although I can't stand either company.
Personally, I'd just save up for an Empress Super Delay if you want the best.
Forgot to add, it has an infinite repeat function on that second footswitch.

bubstance speaks truth. Get that or save up for the Superdelay.
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?

i've personally never seen a TC Electronics Nova Delay used for $200. i would get one though if i could find it at that price. sometimes i think about getting a second EHX SMMwH like that dude in Mogwai. it would be so awesome to have a second one, both from a functional standpoint & an awesome standpoint.
