Early 70s Rick Bass Pickups

Post by amnesiac305 »

I have an early 70s Rickenbacker bass. I would like some new pickups as the originals are pretty weak. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

are both pickups weak? i did that cap bypass mod with my 4001 and i like the sound a lot better now.

as far as replacement pups... i just received a recommendation (unsolicited :grumpy: ) for these: http://joebarden.com/main.php?section=Products&pageID=R4000. not sure if the guy thinks my bass doesn't sound good, or if he's just simply indulging in friendly gear geekery. they look pricey, it'd be cheaper to just buy new pickups directly from rickenbacker, but the dude spoke highly of them. i guess it depends on what exactly you're looking for.
please and thank you.
