E.S.V. Fuzz B.Y.O.C. Questions

Post by St.Norman »

Does anyone Know how make the trim pot into an out board pot( meaning a third knob on the outside). And even though I haven't heard one there is a lot of talk out there that the lowend isn't very low. Anyone know how to fix that or even throw in a switch to switch between the normal tone and a more bass . Keep in mind this will be my first pedal kit and first electronic ever. I know this seems like alot for some one who's never even solder, but why bother if it isn't what you want right? I wish I could afford a MK III From Skin pimp but its not in the cards.

Well, you're going to need to buy a pot that is the same value (ohms) as the trimpot, and drill a new hole in your enclosure. Then, look at where the legs on the trimpot go into the pcb. They should look kinda like a tripod, with one leg on one side, and the other two side-by-side. The hole for the single leg should be wired to the middle lug on your new pot. The other two should be wired to the other lugs.

Usually improving bass response in a pedal is as simple as changing the capacitor nearest the input (and also sometimes the one near the output) to larger values. If you wanted to make it switchable, you would just install a flipswitch (which means drilling yet another hole), like in this picture (stolen from Beavis Audio http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/Switches, which is a great site for this stuff)
