Re: i kinda want to pack up my guitar...
I started with bass, played guitar, then said fuck guitar. Lately I've been wanting to get a guitar though. LOL! Bass is the shit man. Low end for the win!!!!!!!! Guitar has it's appeal to. I think what's important is to be a well rounded musician.

If I had enough money, I'd have a rig for both.
When I first started playing music again a couple years ago, I offered to take over bass duties and put together a rig, but they wanted me on guitar instead. I feel like I've improved on guitar over time, but I also think I'd do fine going back to bass, especially if it's shortscale.

Bass is more fun to play.
Weird tunings and stuff like that work better on guitar where chords are more discernible and such. Sometimes I'll play bass into an effect and be all "oh", but then guitar through it is "WHERE WAS THIS BEFORE?!".
I think it's good to have different instruments around.

I went the other route bass first then years later guitar. I have been playing a lot of guitar the last few years but with fixing up my kramer aluminum bass I remember how much I love the low end.

This is an ideal place to be imo. I just bought a new bass actually, then grabbed an Ampeg Micro vr + matching cab thru trade in hopes of fleshing out the dope bass chops.
That said, guitar will always be my "main" instrument.

Yeah, mine as well. Right before I moved back from college I had a guitar rig AND a bass rig. But when I moved back I didn't have enough room for both, that's why I got the 1x12 bass cab. So I could play both through one rig! aha

oh yeah, i would probably never stop playing guitar - and i will never sell either of the 2 guitars that i have now (for various reasons) - but i have found myself more interested in playing bass again... i will eventually have rigs for both - sooner rather than later if my "fiscally responsible gear shunt" takes off...

We should just buy double necks and have guitar and bass as one AND OWN EVERYTHING

I'd like the Steinberger Dual neck, only because i feel like it would be the least crippling of the bunch

As much as I hate them, it WOULD be kinda cool to have a guitar/bass doubleneck. Although I like having to deal with only playing one instrument at a time so meh.

I'll be honest.
Thunderbolt Buddha is not the most comfortable thing to play. There's always the possibility of version 2.0 though.
