algal bloom can crush, depending on what you feed it. made my bass sound pretty evil with a long reverb into it. check out my latest jamz if you don't believe me.

but the ect will probably suit you better. it definitely brings the low end. however, the attack is a little soft for my tastes if i remember correctly.

I let my bassist borrow mine for a little while but I had to get it back. The swollen pickle just wasn't cutting it for my needs.

I've never played an Algal bloom but the ECT is probably my favorite fuzz for guitar. It's got a bunch of different tones from heavy overdrive to a buzzy stonery lead to dark wall of nothing to HUGE crushed riff sounds. & it's prone to feedback like a mother fucker which I love.
