Favorite Speaker Combos
I've been smoking my Eminence Wizards. Love those - waiting on an Eminence Governor to finish up my second pair of speakers. What are some of your guys/gals favorites???

Weber 65's + Weber Michigan 15's = ridiculous low end and creamy mid range even under a metric shit ton of gain with a detuned baritone guitar.
Eminence Delta pro12a's + Delta pro15a's = as much low end and power as your amp can throw at it, and sounds great for guitar or bass.

I heard Webers were pretty good, and Peaveys have a lot of bite. I've been stuck in the Eminence zone due to budget constraints O.o

Re: Favorite Speaker Combos
I have a Weber Silver Bell and (I think) a Weber 1230-55. The 1230-55 is a Greenback clone. These two put out some growl and thump. A bit on the dark side, but I'm definitely OK with that. I was going to put a Weber Blue Dog (AlNiCo Blue clone) in there for some killer chime AND some low end grind but found a good deal on that 1230-55.
The other guitar player in my band uses an Orange 2x12 with a Vintage 30 and an Eminance Texas Heat. I find the Vintage 30s nasally and not very good sounding, and the Texas Heat is dark and can get a little muffled depending on what gear you're using. Together, they balance each other out. Not a bad combo, all in all. I'd be interested in hearing the Texas Heat with another speaker that I like a little more than the Vintage 30.

It's funny, the Governor from Eminence is supposed to be a V30 clone - but it sounds much better and tighter than the V30's. I prefer the darker sounds since I tune down to C.

I have an ear candy 2x12 w/ a texas heat and a swamp thang. Pretty damn good combo, the TH has the mids that the ST is missing, and the ST fills out the bottom end nicely. Separate though they sound kinda MEH.

My Beta Lead still has the stock speakers from 1974 with the square magnets. More punch than Floyd Mayweather.

1230-55 is not a Greenback. It is a G12H30 with 55Hz Resonance and AlNiCo Characteristics. Never heard the Weber stuff cause it is not that common over here. The G12H30 is a pretty great speaker. A lot of (boutique) amp manufacturer have these as standard speakers in their cabs and combos (i.e. divided by 13, 65 amps).
My favorite combo is the Celestion Blue with a vintage G12H30 75 Hz in an open back Fender style cab. So tim, i think you will dig your pretty similar combination

I have low-frequency Greenbacks in my Laney VC30, and love them. i used to have a Lopo 2x12" cabinet with Jensen P12s which i really liked, but had to sell. i also like the less-loved Fender speakers, Utahs and Oxfords...the Oxfords in my Twin are quite snappy, or were before it sat in a shed for years.

I have The Wizard speakers from Eminence which is their version of the G12H30. They have a tight sound that is great for mid and lows with my head. Not too hissy - but want more highs and low end
