Bands not engaging the audience. Unless you're doing some artistic "band vs. them" thing, c'mon dudes, liven up.

I'm down with the idea of modern shoegaze but I'm also tired of hearing people sighing into like five reverbs. With a vacuum cleaner in the background. You can do something different with it, guys.

yep, but that said dudes who say stuff like 'anyone wanna dance' or 'come up the front' more than once come across as total babies.

there is nothing "artistic" about antagonism towards the folks that (presumably) dropped duckets to watch you perform. bands with that attitude can go right the fuck out the window.

-core
Laptop bands masquerading as live acts
Pop punk
'Indie' / 'Alternative'
Sabbath-worship, classic rock worship, etc. any real obvious heritage. You should attempt to make unique music. Not a lost Led Zepplin or Minus the Bear album. but I suppose a lot of people feel otherwise.

I have to say there was this project in my hometown called shakespeares dead, and he created really cheesy synth tunes, dressed up in a purple alien/space suit and sang to the audience. Like really stupid stuff like "lemon-lemon lemon-n-n-nade." He would go into the audience and try to get people to dance with him and just be hilarious in general. Audience members either loved it or did not get it at all. It was the ultimate "why are you here if you aren't having fun?" set. It was the best.

but I've also gone to Industrial shows where a kid goes up and plays his laptop and stands there.

I can handle laptop noise if there's something that forces you to engage with it, like if they absolutely pummel you with volume and low frequencies, or if there's a visual element going on as well. Otherwise yeah, not into it.

when laptops first started handling sound file storage
i thought it would be awesome for the sampling sode of things
not beats n shit
sound bites from horror movies and shit
figured the days of holding a cassete recorder to the tv were over
but if i see some dude(or lady)strin into a cpu screen, i check out
that goes for ipods as well
and that cartoon pic reminded me of something
white dudes with corn-rows,cmon now
