two phasers in series

Post by Chankgeez »

OK, so tonight after not having played two phasers in series for a long time, I once again played two phasers in series.

It has rekindled my interest in playing two phasers in series.

Who's got something they wanna share with me about playing two phasers in series?

Aside from a dual phaser like the Bi-Phase or the Faye's Her, what you got?

Preferred brands/models, general tips, specific settings, etc.

All and everything is much appreciated. Thank you.

I can share that it's awesome? :idk: Used to use a Polyphase -> Small Stone, then Faye Sing -> Small Stone, I kinda regret getting rid of the SS because dual phaser action is sick. Set the rates different and one more intense than the other and it's niiiiiice.

Not quite what I'm looking for, but cool nonetheless.

Not exactly the same thing, but I quite like phaser -> flanger and vice versa. It makes an awesome seasick/dizzy effect.

I run two flangers in series, don't own a phaser yet. I really like dual flange with clean sounds - dirt is more meh. As soon as I get back in the money I'm going to add some phaser lovin, totally going to do dual phasers. As for parallel - man, I totally want to try it but my rig is not parallelised. Yet...

Oh yeah, actual ideas - I thought it sounded great running fast flange into slow flange - try the same thing with phasers, could/should be cool.

Sounds like an excellent excuse to get a second phaser.

Rick Holt at Frequency Central builds the Gemini, which is 2 of his Causality 6 phasers in one box which you can set up either in series or parallel; http://www.frequencycentral.co.uk/?page_id=280 he's the guy that builds the Sonic Death Ray, which is awesome.

Niiice. Having one set to square and one to a reeeaally slow sweep is amazing.

i struggle a bit to get a sound i like with 2 phasers in series, i like to hear a defined sweep but in series its just a bit mushy and formless for me.
instead of a nice series of waves on the beach, its that bit where the outgoing wave meets the incoming plus bits coming in from the sides and you just end up with FOAM

2 in parallel is a bit better as each one has its own full signal to work with

the one i really like is parallel in stereo

I just played around with a Phase 45 into a Phase 90. While I haven't tried it the other way, I liked it like this. You can get some really interesting tones with one set fast and the other slow. It sounds drunk. In a good way.
