Iunno, it's just a subjective thing haha. As long as you dig it, what I say shouldn't matter that much.

Thanks man! Did a new mix last night! Beefed up the drums, pulled a few of the overdubbed guitars in closer in the stereo field and pulled them down a tad. Gonna review it tonight and repost. Thanks for everyone's compliments and insights.
Good song. I think you need to get those vocals situated. Mix the song around those vocals without concentrating on "heavy" or any other adjective. I also don't like the snare.. maybe it's too loud?
I'll give insight to the changes if anyone wants to know, it's mainly a lot of "feeling" stuff as opposed to "hearing stuff." Of course, the nuances are less noticeable on my computer speakers than on the big near fields in the mixing room, but they are there. There's only one part I prefer in the former mix to the later mix, can you guess which part?
The new much is much better. The whole track sounds alot bassier in general. the bass sound is a bit more prominent and so is the kick drum, the two biggest issues (in my opinion). I still think there could be a bit less guitar and a bit more kick bass. The mix as a whole is much more even and it does have, like you said, a lot more feeling, although the bass isn't out front in the mix you can definitely feel it a lot more, same with the kick.
Overall the new mix is better, I would still make some changes, but that's just me. I also agree with you that computer speakers don't really do either track a ton of justice, can it be downloaded? It would be interesting to hear it on wither of my two stereo systems, that would give me a getter idea of what the track actually sounds like, also to hear it in my car stereo too (just for comparison).
PM me your email and I'll gladly send you a download link. I like a guitar heavy mix, the Stooges, MBV, and Smashing Pumpkins are my favorite bands. So forgive me. But I think you will find it interesting the feel and response you get in a car or with a subwoofer. My drummer said that the low end was almost too much this time around. Which is good. I'm all about "too much!"
