Genetics is an excuse. Just chill out, relax. Stop carrying other people's baggage. Lighten up. ;)

Trying my best to avoid the debates so I can stay a happy/sane person. Of course, Obama is in Madison tomorrow and they're shutting down the entire town for it.

greyscales wrote:Entering no self-confidence and girl problem mode...

Last weekend at the grocery store, this cashier who works there complimented me on the cereal I was buying (raisin bran, mind you) and recommended I try almond milk instead of skim. I tried to say something back, but her coworker comes up to her and talks until I'm leaving. Normally this probably wouldn't be anything, but I was in the self-checkout aisle. So she had no reason to notice, right? And who compliments someone on their choice of raisin bran? Enter paranoia mode.

A couple days go by, me trying to analyze if she was flirting or just being a friendly cashier. I text one of my oldest female friends to get her take. She confirms my theory that it was flirting and talks me into trying to ask the cashier out.

A couple trips to the grocery store later, I haven't seen her. No big deal, I can work up the confidence to do it.

Cut to today today, she's watching over the self-checkout again. Inner thoughts: "Ohhhhhh shhhhhiiiiiitttttt. It's happening!"
What happens? Nothing. She doesn't seem to notice me. Or didn't recognize me (for some reason I decided to get a haircut yesterday :grumpy:).
Oh, and I noticed there was a rainbow sticker on her aluminum water bottle. So she might be gay.

For the first time in over a year I decide to try to ask a girl on a date and in the course of 5 minutes all of my self-confidence is gone.
Enter depressed mode.

Almost the exact same thing happened to me not all that long ago...

What's the worst that could happen? Buying cereal would be awkward? (Note: I'm completely aware it's not that simple-- as evidenced by the fact I never talked to the cute cashier either.)

Also, almond milk in Raisin Brand is delicious. You should try it.

I actually did try almond milk after. Secretly I hope she asks about it and I'll be able to go from there. That would solve everything.

Honestly my biggest concern is that I embarrass either/both of us. Especially if she is gay. I would feel like a tool.

Why do cute women have the ability to completely shut down all talking capabilities in insecure men? The world is a cruel place.

You could use this same thing to start the conversation too.

You: Hey, I don't know if you remember or not but last week you suggested Almond Milk for my Raisin Bran?

Her: Yeah...

You: I tried it and it was really good. Do you have any more delicious breakfast secrets?

Her: Um...not really.

You (as you're walking away): Well, think about it and let me know next time I see you.

It might not go exactly like that but you get the idea.
You should be able to gauge the interest and if not you've left the conversation open for next time you see her.

You never know until you try.

And if it isn't going to turn into anything, you've just gotta respect that and try again when another opportunity comes up. It sucks, I know.

first practice for new band today...and the bass player has already dropped off the face of the earth. what in the actual fuck??? why does this always happen to me...am I just that unlikeable or do I just cavort with shady motherfuckers? Fuck him though, I'll just run my oc-3 into another amp.

Also; when it comes to asking pretty ladies out, my motto is you don't have to really have any self confidence, you just have to be good at faking it.

Just tell girls that you're part of a very exclusive organisation, but you can't tell them much about it, as the details are fuzzy.
