The Never Ending Quest of WTF is He Using?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nD0zCQHo ... ideo_title In this video at the 1:00 mark onward Jesse calls upon some supernatural force of chorus and some other effect to get an incredible sound. People have told me its a mix of chorus and delay, to chorus and vibrato, to chorus alone. Anyone ever create this sorta sound? I have gotten close with my Rocktek Chorus and Fender RAD amp, but there seems to be a missing element. Please, lets solve this once and for all.

Just sounds like a really fast chorus on feedback to me...

The way I got a close sound was via chorus and harmonics, but it still sounds like I'm missing a effect.

That could be due to a number of things. Not all chorus circuits are the same, not all gear sounds the same, the recording is really low quality and could be coloring what you're hearing, etc. & as I said in the earthquaker thread, a Sea Machine will most likely do that sound very well

Thats what I was also trying to figure out. Because I dont know what amp he uses or anything. I sent an email to Earthquaker and asked if it could and they told me it'd get reeeal close, but that he was doing something extra. So Im thinking he is hitting harmonics to get that pitch to it. But different peope tell me different thins so you guys may be right. He might just have a really detailed chorus going on.

around 1:50 the effect comes back. the camera doesn't catch all of it, but it seems like he tap dances around the board really quick. i almost hear a phaser somewhere in there, maybe try adding that.

It could be phaser going on. I just love the sound, it reminds me of Garbage back in the day.

From what I can tell that's the same board used in the video.

Boss tuners, trem & delays, rat.
Probably a RV-3/5. Possibly a Walrus Audio Voyager.
Maybe it's fast trem -> modulated reverb?

It definitely could be tremolo in place of the chorus. Im thinking delay is used just because of how long it seems like the notes ring out (thus why I thought of harmonics).
This has plagued me forever, I just love the sound.

Brand New just always get these really out there sounds that are also really musical AND are one of the few heavier bands that use a lot of chorus.
