Adding switches to rat and muff clones is ridiculous, and is just abusing the market.
Throwing diodes on a switch isn't an acceptable reason for charging $50 more.

I don't mind ALL of the cloning, I think if you can clone something that isn't readily available and/or an original design by another builder, go for it.
Don't, however, go advertising that it's an original design because you changed a cap value.

I love boutique builders like Brian of ss/bs and Ryan of Dr Sci because they make creative and useful new stuff. Even Brian's take on the Superfuzz sounds super fresh.

All the JHS stuff is just boring and overpriced to me. I'm really worn out on the boutique pedal industry in general. The builders here are the only really inspiring ones to me anymore.

I think that's what makes us unique as ILF'ers. We always want something a little different than what is on the market. The builders here change it up, explore new concepts (even if they are hashed out of old ideas), and push the envelope instead of making just straight up clones of the same circuits. It's awesome

Not sure it "needs to go away", because it can be done well, but every other dirt box now has either an "emphasis" button, like the "crunch" or "bump" buttons on the MXR Badass series, or the "More" button on the VOX Satchurator. In the latter case, at least it's a separate large switch that you could activate with your foot. But if it's not foot-switchable mid-song, why even have it? A lot of boutique pedals have the same thing (like Lo and Hi on the Fulltone OCD), and usually, you're just going to prefer one over the other. Anyway, it's a trend that can be done well, but I think it's just being tossed into some pedals to make them look "boutique", when all it really does is boost the treble and mids, sometimes to unusable degrees.

ss/bs is seriously one of freshest and bestest editions to the pedal industry... brian has his shit together in every aspect and ordering from him is like ordering from your good friend. Same goes for Ryan.

Really? I love these knobs!

Is it just because Boss uses them?

I like these too :D

No they look good on boss pedals. They just ruin the mood for me. I don't know what it is. But when I think of all the other types of knobs the builder could've used I can't help but think the pedal would look 10 times better. Just knowing all the different sexy knobs out there....

...I think I have a fetish.

Picky, but delays and reverbs with true bypass. Why would you not at least want the option for trailsssss??? I love them and it usually is a deal breaker on pedals for me. Or the whole true bypass importance thing. Two out of the four tbp pedals on my board pop like mofos every now and then.

Yes. Getting the faye sing after having several non-clean blendy phasers was a fucking revelation.

I believe I've made my feelings plain on clean blend.
