Dunno if this sounds jerkish, but it's not intentional; I'd think the Elements probably has too many fiddly controls too close together for a legally blind person to operate without accidentally messing up the tone, specially if he has sausage fingers like me. A Rat or similar has few enough controls that it's easy enough to remember where each control is.

Yeah, the elements is hard for me to use because I can't just turn everything all the way up and jam. I have to care. Sucks.

But like, not?

good call on the blind issue
definately not jerkish but i didnt think of it at all
but glad i mentioned it for you to pick up on it
elements does have a lot of knobs
props to you pollinator
its not till mid oct so plenty of time for more suggestions
but im at rat tail and minifuck in second after day 1
i worry about gettin him a muff , might be the wrong sound for middle aged punkrock
if hes usin a ds1 i think a muff(esp if its the wrong one for his rig)could end upb bein kinda blah

For that price range, you could go with a vintage Proco Rat and a Barnacle Fuzz. A nice twofer of gnarliness.

Does he not like the distortion from the 5150? Having owned one that amp was an absolute beast for hardcore/metal/punk, I never really desired a pedal :idk:

He probably likes to make noise. A fuzz factory? Or something similar and noisy like one of those fuzzhuggers?
Or something not dirty like a chorus or a flanger or a phaser or a reverb. MXR's bigger flanger can be had around $100 used and a dirt pedal? Mix it up, maybe. Or a fuck od sounds good too.
