hes a washed up punk rocker with a history of drugs and violence
hes the guy you want with you when 4 jocks decide to take out their sexual frustration on you in a bar
I want to get him a decent pedal and give him his first bout of GAS
he plays through a 5150 2x12 combo
his pedals right now are a DS 1 and a Metal Core(that he hates)
i saw 2 guitars,not sure what his main is,an eastwood 335ish hollowbody,gretsch electromatic
he describes the music their playin as oi/hardcore(hes not skin,i swear)(neither am i)

i got some ideas but i dont want to stear this one
what would you get this person?

If he wants to replace the metal core, I'd say an Elements. My favorite hi-gain distortion pedal for sure. Plus it can do clean boost, overdrive, and a slew of other awesome sauce things.

The Elements was my first impulse, too!

The EQD Talons looks amazing, and could be a perfect drive for metal dudes (and is a little simpler than the Elements, which could be daunting to a pedal newbie):

Ha ha ha - well, the Talons just seems like a good overall OD that verges on fuzzstortion territories. No need to be metal with it if he doesn't dig it! Also, I think it's going to start off around $170ish. Release date is the 28th (so two days from now), I think.

A Rat or Big Muff type pedal could be good. A Rat would be a bit more aggressive, but a Big Muff can get nice and crunchy for heavier music. A Mini (or regular) Fuck would be cool. It can kind of hit some Rat range.
