Empress doesn't get enough love around these parts. Everything they make is pretty much better than everything anyone else makes.

Better's kinda subjective when it comes to preferences in sounds.

NO IT'S NOT: IT IS OBJECTIVE! I have like a pedal quality meter hardwired in my brain.
Nah man, the post was made as a jest (shit, I own stacks of non-Empress pedals that rule), but my point was that they are rad, like a lot of other stuff we talk about here

the empress is super sick and can do practically anything phase filter related. the moog is huge in both size and sound. the whetstone offers some versatility based on basic phase sound, comb filter, type stuff by having a very wide range of speeds. the moog also has a very wide range of speeds but offers more stages of phasing, thusly contributing awesomeness. the phase 90 is an awesome, yet noisy one trick pony that is a great place to start and can be had for relatively cheap, as is the EHX Small Stone. don't get the nano, or anything non normal small stone, they're all garbage. as is the keeley phaser, sounds awesome in concept, but thing blows hard like that guy's mom.
but what are guitar pedals...really..?

side note, i gave mine to my bass player and he loves it. sounds amazingly deep and lush on bass.
