Help me decide...

Post by 01010111 »

So, my car stereo's been broken for a while. The tape deck, cd player and fm radio are all broken. Oddly enough the AM part still works :idk: however, I haven't really been affected by it. I just drive around with my headphones on.

In the meantime, I really want to get a couple of pedals that would be very useful for my latest music project. I figure that I have enough money right now that I can do one or the other of these and be ok (I have to budget my income to last through the winter or I'd just get one, wait, and then the other :grumpy: ). So which one: radio or pedals?

It's not illegal here. But why is it dangerous? I could see if you were wearing isolation headphones or something of that nature, you wouldn't be able to hear cops or people honking their horns or whatever, but I just wear earbuds while I drive.

And I really would just get the pedals, but it gets a little awkward sometimes when I ride with people and the only thing I can turn on the radio are mariachi bands or conservative talk radio (except at night Coast to Cost ftw  ). The pedals in question are a catalinbread RAH and MXR bass-octave deluxe. If I were to install the stereo myself I could still afford one of the pedals  How hard is it to install a stereo?

How old is your car? As far as I know, everything from the past 20 years is basically just drop in.

junk yard baby
probably get a sweet stereo for $5
or pawnshop or craigs for $15
another option is wiring a headphone jack ($6)into your broken shit
to connect ipod,discman,walkman,whatever
if am still works than that should work as well
you can solve this problem under $20 easy
just get a pedal thats not as "boutique"
i drive around with one earbud in all the time,i know its not legal but what about a bluetooth earfuck,or handsfree headset for phone
definately dont walk the train tracks with headphones on

I will check out the pawn shop. My car's a 96 jeep grand cherokee. I actually just found a youtube vid of a guy installing a stereo in a 96 jeep cherokee (there is very little difference between the two models), and I think it's something I can handle. Thanks ILF I will have my cake and eat it too.

I'd go with stereo. Only because the car is like my ONE favorite spot to listen to anything.

Check out one of the new systems by Kenwood. I put one in about 5 years ago and couldn't be happier.

My estimated yearly gas bill: $3640 that's either a lot of whores, or a lot of semen depending on how you want to measure it.

I'll check out the kenwoods. I listen to music in the car all the time too. But I don't really care about having a stereo so much unless there are other people in the car with me.

Really boils down to how much time you spend in the thing whether the stereo's worth it to you.

But yea, swap in a stereo, something iwth an aux in jack and a disc player that does mp3s.

Call it good.
