Try running with somebody else if you can. It really helps you keep a pace and stay motivated when your lungs give you a hard time.

running with a partner is huge
also reading articles on people who weigh 400 pounds and a year later are running/walking marathons
alot of em start with 1/4 mile and slowly build up

just doing anything is huge

I covered about 3 yesterday but ended up walking the second half because a friend was at the town park and walked with me for 3 laps

3.75 today tried a new strategy

Ran the first 20 minutes the last 5 of which I tried to hold a 7 min mile pace

walked 15 minutes away from my starting point
Ran a very hard 5 minutes which actually put me past my starting point
and then walked back to cool down

burned 490 calories according to my phone

tomorrow is a lighter day I think because I want to log some decent miles on saturday

Been biking 10 or more miles about every other night with a bud. I could eat better and get more exercise still, but at least it's something :idk:
Night riding is the best. I've wanted to skateboard or ride bikes at night for years now but doing it alone wouldn't be all that relaxing in my neighborhood.
My friend goes to the gym every day, sometimes twice a day and rides with a weird thing on his knee that needs to be drained. I'm counting down for something to really fuck him up, but his confidence outweighs reason right now.

Good luck on the biking,
also: I think we could have a solid ILF pool seeing when your friends knee explodes, I have october 17th! (and will now feel terribly guilty if he gets hurt)

Yeah, that just doesn't sound good.
A few years back i saw an interwebs pic of myself on stage...and was horrified at the gut pushing out behind the bass. I started running both outside and on the treadmill, and using my folks' elliptical and exercise bike on alternating days...at least 3 and sometimes 4 days a week. Not so much into weighing myself but lost 4 inches off my waist in a few months and just felt awesome. Hadn't been that size since jr. High school...and then I started grad school, and got back together with my ex who loves to bake and feed me lots of pasta, and DAMN if i don't love beer...and before long had gained back every inch. Literally just took my old clothes right back out of the bin.
So after 2 years of almost no exercise, now i've finished up grad school, wedding, and house purchase, and within the last month have seriously started up again, mostly treadmill miles just because it's so easy to control how hard and how far. I ran over 3 miles straight yesterday.
Awesome to see you guys getting more into keeping yourselves up, and to have the support here. Best of luck dudes.

That's fantastic :thumb: I've been trying to cut out candy lately, so, I'm super jealous of your no snacking.

I've got five pounds left before I reach my goal, and I've started to develops some tone in my arms, stomach and chest so I'm feeling pretty good. If only I could get the candy thing under control, I'm worried about future me getting diabetes.

GUH! I'm terrible at dieting at this point. I don't eat really unhealthy food, generally, but I tend to cook too much and just eat all of it. Combine that with the fact I don't like... exercising... and I've gained like 20 pounds this year. Ok, maybe not 20... but I want to lose at least 20.

I have two pairs of jeans that don't fit. And I know they will. MUST. DIET. MUST. BUY. TREADMILL.

Maybe I'll get one of those tiny treadmills people in offices use to walk while they work... I think I could handle a soldering iron whilst walking.

I'm recovering from an operation where I lost a neck disc and got two vertebras attached permannently together with titanium. And having been on sick leave for months, I've lost quite serious amount of hands muscles. Humiliating as it is, for an ex martial artist, I'm exercicing with 1 Kg (2.2 lbs) wrist weights. That equals the lift limit I was given after the operation, and now I'm working slowly from there up.

dude, I have a ruptured disk and am actually working out when I can with 4 pound weights now, it is humbling but I feel like I am building a different kind of muscle, you'll get there.

Also: Thanks for making the conversion to Pounds us US Americans can't handle the metric system
