Help me fix my amp, please!

Post by zRobertez »

I bought this amp for $25 from a friend. I don't know anything about it. Brand is "Tempo." Beginner gear company from the 70s. It worked, but the reverb and tremolo didn't so I opened it up to look around. I resoldered some iffy looking places. Now, I'm not totally sure if I accidentally pulled a wire off of the speaker but some experienced amp fixers might!

Here is the front of the board. Didn't do too much to this side.

Here is the back of the circuit board.

Here is the speaker. I'm pretty sure that other prong has to have something on it. Before I plugged it back in, I noticed a short wire badly soldered to that prong. I pulled it off because it was too short to connect to anything important. (prolly a bad idea. just a guess!)

Okay, so I don't know what this thing is. But that yellow wire was just floating around not connected to anything and the prong that it is soldered to in the picture looked it had some solder on it and that a wire had fallen off of it. So I soldered that yellow wire there. (just a guess again!) I don't know anything about fixing amps but I know how to solder and figured that solder could fix anything!

Is that yellow wire supposed to be connected to that prong on the speaker? I would test it but I haven't had time today but I took these pictures last night.
Also, if not, how do I get it to work again? And do you see anything that I could do to fix the tremolo and reverb. I reattached the spring in the tank but I haven't gotten to test it because now nothing works. I don't even know what part controls the tremolo. So any tips for those?

Thanks!
