Recommend me a slapback delay pedal

Post by Almonds »

We're talking rock n roll shit here. And I don't want a DD3/7 or spend too much money (say limit to $150ish if possible?).
I also don't want a pedal that has only 1 use; I would like to be able to extend the delay if I want but nothing crazy.
Right now I have a Disaster Transport Jr., and while I like it, I'm not sure it's the best pedal for what I use it for.

Thoughts?

DM-2, but it's going to be outside your budget.
Arion SAD-1 or buy my Tokai TDL-1 (same thing, different box).
Good deals done with all these guys

this might be lame but for decent slapback
and extend it at literally the flip of a toggle switch
the danecho did that for $29 used
definately not the coolest answer youre gonna get but it did the job for me

That's because it's a DM-2 ;)

I've been meaning to try one, but I'm worried it's gonna dissappoint.

If I had to pick someone else's suggestion I would pick this...

If I had to make my own suggestion I would say Malekko E300 Dark. Best delay I've ever used for slapack. I had it set short and always left it on. Didn't need it for other delay sounds, because I had a Superdelay at that time, but it is a great sounding delay. I better stop typing before I start to miss it even more.

I would say the Aqua Puss is good for slapback if you are looking for a pure analog delay. However for the price you might want to consider the TC Flashback.
The Carbon Copy can do slapback, but I find it goes into oscillated repeats pretty quickly at fast/slapback times.
I have an Arion SAD-1 (that I'm trying to sell) that does well at slapback. It's pretty much a DM-2, if I remember correctly.

In full disclosure, my own delay does the quick delay best for my needs.

it is, very good
for a little more useable long delay time the Cmatmods deeelay is also in the price range
I have compared the slap back tones on both and they are very good

I love my DOD DFX9 to death. scored it for $23, but they seem to be steadily rising in price...really sweet pedal tho. Sounds much warmer than a DD3 and the infinite repeats thing is a cool option.
