the Hardcore/Punk/Crust/D-beat/grind thread

Post by Pirate »

I don't know how many people here are into punk stuff, but I figure since there is a metal thread, there might as well be a hardcore thread.

Well I posted in the metal thread, so I pay as well post here too. For punk, this album is the dog's balls:

For hardcore, these guys were always my favorite:

Hüsker Dü FOR THE WINNNNNN!!!

Zen Arcade was one of the cornerstone albums to get me out of classic rock radio when I was a kid. I think I read about it in some ridiculous Rolling Stone Top 100 albums of all time list back in high school, and thought, "Whoa - that sounds cool." Then I bought it, listened and thought "Whoa - what the hell was THAT?!?"

Later on, I got into Jawbreaker and their ilk... I missed out on most of the original punk / hardcore stuff, and really got into the Dischord-era postpunk stuff instead. Fugazi, Jawbox... all those "brainy" bands.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

+1 for Fugazi and the Dischord folks, seeing them live is an amazing experience.

For me it's definitely Foo-gah-zee, plus all those angular angry bastards - Shellac, Big Black, the Jesus Lizard, Unsane.

You ain't witnessed Shellac until you've been sandblasted by their sound live.

Well yeah, Biohazard can definitely come off as a group of racist, alpha-male meatheads. Its not even about the lyrics for me at all. I just think that their riffs and breakdowns are teh br00ta1z

I read this story about how Morbid Angel and Biohazard played a show together, and the singer from Biohazard was calling Morbid Angel racist,so David Vincent came out in an SS uniform.
But anyhoo what are some more bands similar to Crucifix,I guess I'm asking for more d beat bands.

I don't know if anyone here likes grind, but the new Agoraphobic Nosebleed album ripped my face off!
You just need a passive bass, a tube amp, and a metric ton of marijuana and Sabbath worship.
