Guess who I saw live last night?

Post by Blurillaz »

THE MEAT PUPPETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :animal:
They had two bands open for them, Mighty Fairly, and The Retribution Gospel Choir. So first off, I checked out their gear. ;) Everyone in Mighty Fairly had TU-2's, the Guitarist had a Hot Rod Deville amp, a Boss TR-2, Maxon Overdrive with the knobs ripped off, and some weird shaped boost pedal. (Zinky Master Blaster?) He used a Les Paul the whole time. The Singer had this Sparkly Red Strat, but when he switched guitars... He had a red JAG-STANG! So I guess the REM guy has the Blue one, and he apparently somehow knows Courtney Love and got her to give it to him. :idk: Sadly, the Girl's bass amp broke so she was running all around trying to fix it...
Secondly, (is that a word?) The Retribution Gospel Choir came on, The Guitarist/Singer was using a New Vintage amp (couldn't tell what kind) and had an SHO, Lo-Fi Loop Junky, SIB Mr. Echo Plus, and an Octane. The bassist played through an Acoustic head into an Orange cab. Despite their name, they were like Muse except good.
And then the Meat Puppets! At first only the drummer and Curt were up their getting stuff set up. Curt used this little cool Zinky Half Stack, and had a Surf Green Strat with lots of stickers on it. He used a Fulltone OCD (I couldn't tell what version, but I know it's not v4) Morley Wah, Boss TU-2, (edit: figured out what pedal the phaser was) Maxon PT-9 phaser,Boss RE-20 that he used heck of a lot, and a Morley Echo Volume Chorus. Halfway through the first song, Cris came through the audience holding a beat up Precision Bass  , and just used the Retribution Gospel Choir's Bassist's amp. For a while, It was one of the best concerts I ever had been to, but then some Drunk Bitch started shoving everyone and jumping on the stage, so I went far away from her. :erm:

(P.S. while I was outside, there was a Drunk guy who looked like Aen with blonde hair apologizing for being drunk. It was interesting)

I didn;t know if anyone knew them, so I compared them to a band everyone knows. They were awesome though. I was in the middle of both monitors!

Sadly 85% of everyone in Duluth is Folk or Metal,(I'm neither, but folk is better than metal IMO) so the Meat Puppets are playing almost country stuff with these metalheads everywhere screaming... I think everyone there except this one other guy wearing a Meat Puppets T-Shirt and me only knew that the Meat Puppets played with Nirvana once, and were expecting Heavier stuff. Someone was even screaming "Play All Apologies!" and another was screaming "Powder Bird!" :erm: Free Bird and Powderfinger mashup?

I forgot if I wrote this, but there was a drunk guy outside yelling about death and apologizing for being drunk, that looked and sounded exactly like aen with blonde hair.

I LOVE PIZZA LUCE! I used to hang out at that one when I was working on the hospital right up the road in Duluth.
I also have a number of friends that work at the 2 locations in minneapolis
