Blackout Effectors Musket (or Blunderbuss) is a good choice.

Musket or Blunderbuss would be my suggestion, too. Both are based on the Muff circuit, with tweaks aimed specifically at giving it greater flexibility & control of gain & EQ. The Blunderbuss is kinda "splattier" and gruffer from what I understand, but I haven't tried one myself.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Fairfield Barbershop maybe?
Nice, open overdrive that likes dynamics and tubes.
Also, it has some serious balls when you need it to.
Bonus: Made in Canada!!!!

algal bloom for some lo-gain fuzzies or a fuck overdrive for some bright, dirty od or the elements for all your distortion needs. Listen and see what pleases your eardrums! Taste is subjective!
Fuzz, reverb, delay.

I hear no fuzz in that video? Just jangly overdrive really. Try a mellowtone singing tree if you can find one. If you want something with a bit more balls, look at the Creepy Fingers Doomidrive, it blurs the line between fuzz/od/distortion. Very cool pedal.

Or, just buy a clean boost for your amp, unless it's solid state or something.

I totally agree there, I'm looking of something quite weak not over powered or sludge-like

Ah, you want a Sam Ash/Astrotone fuzz then. Analogman makes a clone, jerms makes em, Ian Sherwen does em, Ronsound used to make a nice one. Real grindy crunchy but not overly fuzzy fuzz.
Good deals done with all these guys

I have yet to find the keepers for my gain. Next in line is a Fuck. They get so much love here I feel like I have to try one. For fuzz, I really like my BYOC octave fuzz. And I love all other octave fuzzes too but it's nice to be able to turn the octave off. Malekko has a really nice looking one. Earthquaker has a great selection of fuzzes and few overdrives. But I'm currently in the process of redoing all my dirt. The plan is a Fuck, either an overdrive from Lovepedal or Foot Fetish and maybe a boost combined with mah tubezzz.

Also, ThePastRecedes, you have to listen to John Frusciante. I can tell! :omg:

I just got one of these today, and the hype is well deserved. I think it would serve the OP quite well for what he wants.

Fuck OD or The Elements would also be good choices. Actually, I'd recommend getting all three!
