Re: the happiness, excitement, and general contentedness thr
Today was productive. I really should to do this "getting up early" thing again sometime.
Got dem yardworks done
Got dem cleanins done
Nearly finished with not-so-secret secret project
Done transforming my 50% rust, 50% flaking safety-yellow bike into sexy army green rideable bike. LEARNIN' NEW THINGS HELL YEAH
I stupidly didn't take any notes or pictures before completely disassembling the thing because every single piece had to bathe in mineral spirits and be wire brushed clean...so...reassembly was kind of a bitch. But I'm 95% sure everything is back in place.
Tip: assume everything on a bike is threaded in reverse
Also, bike shop owners are more condescending than record store or instrument shop owners combined. Maybe they even rival comic book guys.
And you don't need any tools save for a pump to put innertubes and tires on; the spoon/screwdriver/actual tire changing tool is unnecessary, or was for me. But a chain tool would have been nice.

Double post, but seriously. Bright Eyes and The Rural Alberta Advantage are exactly what I wanted to hear tonight. Such a good summation of my mood.

I was expecting it to have a rust finish from the picture, but the finish is a beautiful sort-of sparkly-rootbeer color with a clearcoat, and a lighter gold color sprayed in places. Very cool looking under the light.
poor attempt at photographing it:
