Depending where I am I use a bar stool or a fantastic (Well I think it is) office chair that I removed the arms off of. It's so comortable.

Re: Chairs for playing guitar?
Interesting. Going to have to just keep on trying chairs, I guess.
The couch doesn't work for me. I have to perch on the edge and lean forward, kind of scrunch up around the guitar, and that gets uncomfortable after a few minutes. I can't lean back all slouchy and play guitar. I can lay on the ground on my back and play guitar though. </unncessary-rambling>

For a minute I thought/hoped this thread was about playing guitar with chairs.
Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

Re: Chairs for playing guitar?
I have a chair from goodwill that can move 5 ways to Sunday... There are no arms and I can tilt the back separate from the seat and tilt the seat forward and back and left and right and make the cushion softer or less soft... And move the whole thing up and down... Look around...

Re: Chairs for playing guitar?
I'm a cripple, standing while playing is a dream that left me years ago, I can barely walk. Chairs are my friend, so much so that I'll have a powered one soon.
So chairs are basically my life.
The "go to Goodwill/thriftstore of yourchoice" and try a bunch is the best suggestion - the office chairs without arms are my personal favorites, I have several both for my use and for guests. BIgger the seat the better, so I can switch exactly how I sit on it and whether I use the back support or not etc.
The office chairs without arms, especially the older ones that aren't thrashed that are out there for $10 or less, will be adjustable many many ways and probably work well for you.
