A J bass with too pickups on sounds like a jazz bass... a PJ with both on sounds like a P bass with more highs and or attack when the note is struck.

+1

my squier VM jag is a PJ, and whenever I have the volume of the P pickup higher than zero, the fucking thing always sounds like a P no matter how high I have the J turned up. It's like the P just totally takes over the sound of the J. At least the J adds some sparkle and grit back in, which was always my main complaint about P pickups. But whenever I play that bass, I always think I sound like Mike Dirnt

I'm thinking of getting some kind of PJ in the mid future. Something I've been wondering about is having a pseudo-Ric/Sheehan setup where, instead of having a separate jack for each pickup, it just uses a TRS cable into a small "splitter" at the beginning of the padalboard to treat them differently.
I'm just not sure whether I want a PJ or Jazz yet. I was pretty much decided on a Jazz when I went and fucking bought Live at Leeds.

He never sent me anything back.

The worst part for me is that long (2 years? -- a couple months ago) after forgetting about it, it popped back into my head and I emailed him about it. I apologized for getting mad (as if I had no right... :grumpy: ) and asked if he thought I would ever get anything from him. He responded the next day with "remind me again about the pedals you ordered?" and I got excited. I replied back with a cordial attitude, the info, and my new address.

THEN THE FUCKER DISAPPEARED AGAIN.

Sounds like people are having the most success by "reminding" him on his facebook page.

Rics use a TRS cable and a splitter. between the pj or jazz I would personally go pj. I split the pickups on my T-40 and running the neck PUP into OD and the bridge PUP into fuzz is fucking GLORIOUS.

Derp. Reinventing the Ric-O-Sound. Is it configured so that using a TS cable will turn it into a normal setup? In that case it's exactly what I was planning.
The problem with PJs is that there doesn't seem to be much choice in the sub-500 price. I guess it's between the LTD Vintage and the Squier Jaguar Special.

no there are two outs, a standard and a ric-o-sound out. I wired mine for 2 outs to see how I like it and I do so soon I will be buying a TRS jack and a TRS cord and building a little splitter box.
