It's really not far off from the Stampede, but the voltage sag really takes off some of the square sizzle

Re: DIRGE ELECTRONICS: Progress/Protos/Puppies
Got board standoffs and installed them in Wes' fuzz. Added all the wires to all the boards and started initial wiring. My grandparents were over and spent the night so I couldn't get into the room I had the transistors for the FY-2 and the chip for the FZ-1 in. Tonight I'll pop everything into the sockets, finish the wiring, and test her out!

Also got this laid out for myself after everyone was asleep, it's a Midifi Clarinot, with disengagable Fuzz. Although when you toggle the fuzz off all I can hear is clock noise. So I'm going to sort that out this week.

ALSO, thanks to SONNY for being a rad dude and trading me. I now have a crap ton of enclosures to build stuff into so hit me up with your ideas.

Re: DIRGE ELECTRONICS: Progress/Protos/Puppies
Now that I think of it I might just end up turning the fuzz footswitch into a 100k pot and see how that works.
Also, Wes, I think zipties are going to be my friend for your fuzz. Also, I have to put the boards in track side up, so to swap in different transistors you'll just have to take a screwdriver and unscrew the main board from the chasis. It's the only way I could get the boards in place since the components are too tall!

Any chance you could post a demo of you WSG? I have one laying around at home that I'd love to have mod'd and re-housed.

Sounds good

Got any advice for a couple different trannies I could buy or a good place to get them? I want to start experimenting so I'll put in an order real soon!

Sold it to Holy Schnikes (WHERE IS SCHNIKES???) some time ago. I want to make another. I'd totally mod/rehouse yours though!

Don't worry about it duder, I bought 5 different pairs of high gain silicon for you

Yeah I figured it'd be silly for you to spend $5 in shipping somewhere for 10 tiny transistors. I got a nice mix of them so you can mix and match and find the sound you're looking for

Re: DIRGE ELECTRONICS: Progress/Protos/Puppies
Spent a good part of the night making the last few connections that I could on Wes' fuzz. It's a little out of hand in there wire wise. I've only slept about 8 hours in 2 days so I'm going to get some sleep tonight and test it out tomorrow after work. I really hope I can have it done by weeks end.
I had to clear my head somehow, so I finished up this Midfi-Clarinot that I'd started last night. Really interesting circuit to put together and to play. I enjoy it.
Tomorrow I'll be getting home at a decent time and picking back up the iron to sort things out

Yo, did you figure out your fuzz lift on the clari? It's real simple, just use a switch to break the massive gain on the 386. I'm sure you looked it up but I believe it's the connection on the 386 between pins 1 and 8. If you look at the diystomp thread it'll give you verification. Clean mode is cool cause it sounds good clean and you can pump other shit into it. If you look towards the end of that thread, Deeper explains how he did his clean version differently. He split the signal instead at the front with a fet. Sonically, his clean clips sound superior to the fuzz lift mode. But maybe you're tring his way?
Anyway, don't burst a brain bubble, your output is insane these days. Kick ass work, mang.

Re: DIRGE ELECTRONICS: Progress/Protos/Puppies
Thanks duder, I appreciate it. I actually did figure it out, it was WAY simple and actually really handy. Instead of a simple switch, I used a 100k pot as a 'gain' control, and added a second footswitch to dime the gain, so essentially I can run it clean, and then hit the switch to bring the fuzz back in. It's REALLY handy because the gain stays REALLY clean except adds more warble until about the last 5% of the pot, and thats where the fuzz starts. So I can and do run it clean, and then can stomp that switch to bring heavies:

As far as Wes' fuzz goes, I checked all my traces last night to see if anything might have strayed or crossed tracks, I think tonight I'm not going to look at it so I can have fresh eyes tomorrow to be able to diagnose things- I'm going to first start by bypassing the blend controls and see if it's the blends, and if its not that go back and reassess. I can tell I was tired last night because I put the FZ-1 chip in backwards. Hopefully I didn't blow it, but I guess I'll find out tomorrow. Not a big deal if I did, I'll just pick up another.
When I engage the FY-2 circuit it makes a considerably different and not-so-silent engage sound, and kind of sounds like something isn't grounded correctly. But I've got the 3DPT and the board both grounded, so I'm not sure whats going on. I think a day away from it will do me some good.
Tonight I'm going to replace all the caps in WeHuntKings' Muff and also do as much wiring as I can. I don't want to stay up too late again last night... I went to bed at 1 last night and woke up for work at 6:05, and felt rested because the last two nights I went to bed close to 3! haha

Dude get some sleep! We are all patient dudes here.
I don't mind waiting a month or two for mine because I didn't even know if it was possible to make. This is one of my dream fuzzes

Re: DIRGE ELECTRONICS: Progress/Protos/Puppies
I just don't want to disappoint anyone with long wait times, I know as a frequent GAS sufferer how it can be and I try to prevent it to the best of my ability haha
Thank you for understanding man
My guess is there MIGHT be something wrong with the blend circuits that I installed, because I'm not getting signal from either of the fuzzes when engaged. I got some white noise from the MZ-1, but that was it. I think if I can assess that the blends are or arent the problem, it'll save me a lot of work from wiring and rewiring them back in.
I WILL MARCH ON!
I've definitely learned a lot between your fuzz and Excane's delay- I've tried a lot of things build wise that I've never done before, so it's been a huge really eye opening building experience and it's made me really excited to put both of them together
