Loopers... Not sure what to do.

Post by SirBlend12 »

Ok, here's the issue. I've been looking at all the options out there for looping, albeit with a particular option in mind. One-shot. As far as full-length looping, overdubbing, multi track deals with memory are concerned, I'm good on that... plenty of options. As for a truly functional one-shot looper, the best thing there is (as far as I know) is the Line 6 DL-4.

The problem with that is:
a. It's I delay module... that I wouldn't use for delay.
b. They're known to be made like shit. Breaking all the time and with horrible bypass.
c. It's huge. I mean, there's nothing wrong with a large pedal, but I was thinking two of these... "real estate" becomes non-existant.

To be a bit more clear, I want something that has the same loop functions, where you can just record something as you play it and then either play it back, one-shot it, or "continuous one-shot" it. Think Minus The Bear.

Does anything else like this exist? Or could there be a good re-house?
Dude, a ball pit is not... weren't you ever a little kid? Ya know, a ball pit, with the plastic balls and you'd jump in it... it's not a gay bar!

I've read good things about the DD7 as a looper - but again, one can't use is as both a looper and a delay at the same time.

I've also been looking at loopers lately - and in the end i think i'll end up with either a RC20 or maybe the new Boomerang, wich look like it has loads of pissibilities and great on-stage controling.

The Options I know of are...

The BOSS RC-2 Loopstaton, meanna be alright... not great and dependant on what your using it for.

The Hardwire DL-8 Delay/Looper is meanna be pretty nice and can certainly give the DL-4 a run for it's money in my opinion, plus there meanna be built like small guitar pedal army tanks and it has 20 seconds of loop rather than 14, half the price too.

What are you intending to use it for? Home jamming or on stage?

The Akai Headrush (E1 or E2) is a good possibility.

It's cheaper and smaller than the DL4, plus has a longer record/playback time.

You can also (I think) stop the most recent overdub to an already playing track (kind of like an undo function) The DL4 does not have that.

BUT, the DL4 does give you the option of slowing down/speeding up your loops and also recording/playing back in reverse.
:joy: things to do, things to re-do :omg:

The Headrush lets you delete all overdubs while keeping the initial loop. You can't (unfortunately) delete the most recent overdub...unless the most recent one was the only one :p

I vote the Headrush. Thats what that gal KT Tungstall (spelling?) used when she didn't have a band backing her up.

Graham Coxon is using it for his acoustic shows for The Spinning Top.
