Alternative Enclosures

Besides for the regular hammond boxes what else is there? I'm looking for something, cheaper perhaps and odd, but that will hold up fine to regular "abuse."

Electrical boxes from hardware stores are kinda cool but the bigger ones are more expensive than a Hammond-style.
Sewing machine pedals.
Anything plastic or wooden if you line it with copper foil or something similar.

Have you had a look at sites like mouser, rscomponents, digikey, element14 etc? They literally have almost every enclosure made. It can be expensive for shipping (at least for me in NZ) but a lot of them offer free shipping at times.

Do you mean that first one in the list? It's a bit bigger than the one from mammoth I think. 3in x 3in. Compared to 2in x2in. And a bit more height too.

1590A is what I think you're talking about (malekko omnicron & mooer size right?)
1590B is the standard pedal size
1590BB is the larger standard

edit: nvrm, I think you are talking about the square ones, my bad.

What does the copper foil lining do? Do you think a spam can would work?

I'm building a Bazz Fuss for my Electronics teacher, he plays Bass. He also teaches Auto shop and wood shop and engineering, so I'm trying to think of something "industrial" to put it in. Are you serious about wanting a pedal in a spam can, I'd be more than happy to do that, I have a Whisker Biscuit (Big Muff Variant) that needs an enclosure.

Nice, i actually ended up buying electrical switch boxes and covers, it was about $2.50 for both, so I got two sets. We'll see how they turn out. The boxes are as thin if not thinner than a regular pedal enclosure.

I just got a pipe tabacco box from ebay for a Shin-Ei.
I'll let you know how it turns out - but I use my pedals in the studio only.
