How long is a reasonable wait for a pre-order? The production of the pcbs and the first round of boxes will take about 6 weeks/2 months and that's what we'd need the big initial investment for... does a pre-order usually involve a bit of a wait?

It's funny, back in 2006/2007/2008 we had a huge wait time for orders, months and months, and people pre-paid... but now I think that was a mistake to make people pay now and then wait months... but that's what we'd have to do for this pre-order.... circle of life, man.

Thanks for the info, guys! I'll check out Guillaume's pre-order and see how he's doing it, I love that guy's style.

You mean he did it for the Randy's Revenge, hey Syl? He did a discounted price and then you had to wait awhile?

I only got two pedal on pre-order from Guillaume, so I dont really remember the timing.
I'll check in my PayPal account, maybe I have the info.
Will the first batch still the Zombie design?

Edit:
I got Randy and US on pre order.

For Randy, I sent 10$ on March 19th... then I got an email letting me know that I could pay the rest right now (to be on priority) or pay when redy. So I paid it on March 16th.
50$ rebate for the pre-order. I received the pedal on Mai 17th.

I think this is a great system.

I would be interested in a pre-order depending on the incentive. I am definitely in favour of helping to get something like this off the ground but I'd at least want to know what the finish was going to look like, etc.

Yeah, for the Randy's Revenge you pre-paid $250 (full price is $300) and waited awhile (probably at least as long as you're looking at for the V3 Cosmi) and then he shipped those before all other orders. I thought it was quite worthwhile all around.

EDIT: oh yeah, oops, Sylnau has it right: paid a deposit up front and the balance when the pre-order was ready to ship. I'd be fine with 100% up front though.

I personally wouldn't mind waiting.

It actually take the pressure off coming up with the money when it's ready for release. It could go both ways.

There are some pre-orders that you wait for a LOOONG time, but don't pay until your name comes up.... *COUGH* toneczar *COUGH* then after payment, you receive it in about 6-8 weeks.

If people have the money, they will pay. A discounted price also helps a lot. Then they just sit back and play the waiting game until a little box of goodies show up :joy:

Well, you're gonna hate this, Syl, but we're thinking of doing a pre-order special zombie finish with matching t-shirt batch and then the first store batch would be the green/black zombie finish. And then we'd do something not undead related buddy! What one would you like the first non-zombie finish to be, Syl? Home sweet home? Or black/silver like yours?

Right on, Jeff, thanks for the RR info, that sounds like how we'd do it too. We'd knock a nice chunk off, do a special finish (that we'd show you first, a one time finish of around 120), include a t-shirt, maybe a pick, stickers, and then after a 2ish month wait I'd build all the pre-orders first in line before sending out any store orders.

Right on, other Jeff, thanks yous too! I think the wait would be unavoidable but I'd be pushing to make it as short as possible and everybody's money would be in good hands, all satisfied customers at the end.

We're liking this pre-order idea!

Zombies eh... I might be down for special zombie finish, or might wait for the first non-undead finish run to come along. It's all good either way!

I think no more than a three month wait is fair, as long as there is an option to pay with a $50 deposit and then the rest of the pre-order a few weeks before the pedal ships out. That might make it too complicated, but it would be a friendly option if you're worried about making people wait.

I like your idea anyway. I would get involved.

Syl, buddy, I can't help but get the feeling you don't like zombies... you're more of a werewolf kinda guy hey? Maybe goblins? I'll find a monster you like!

For us, the whole point of this pre-order is to raise the huge dollars we need to buy the pcbs and boxes... we couldn't get the money 3 weeks before shipping as that'll be the time I need to actually build the pedals, it's not like they come built.

We'd need ~25k up front to buy the 500 pcbs, first run of boxes, and enough parts to make the first ~100 plus the shirts and goodies, otherwise we might as well just fund it ourselves by going that far into debt... that's the point of this though, to raise the money first because it's really hard for us otherwise...we'll need family help to cover the costs and we'd love to avoid that...
