You wanna find something that will work with the ios dock... There are a ton of options but stay away from the 3.5mm out...

I have the same problem. The Mikro has the obvious benefits in size and cost (portability is a big deal for me), but the full version obviously has the benefits that the added real estate allows for.

Get the full sized. It is portable enough plus I would miss the dedicated buttons on the controller.

I never found the Mikro too limiting as I usually find controlling most parameters on the computer screen more intuitive. And when I do use the controller I'm never diving through a bunch of menus. Could be I just dont know what I'm missing though :idk:

I'd say try it before you go for the options that use the dock. Those adapters are dead cheap and it works fine for me. If I upgrade I will want something that can do Midi in and out too. And there aren't that many options actually. The only one I'm aware of is the Alesis Dock and when I checked that out in the store it felt like it would fall apart any second. 100% plastic. You can connect a normal usb interface with the camera connection kit but there are certain limitations. I never understood those tbh.

Looks great, but no Midi. There doesn't seem to be a dock that does both. Let you use the ipad as a recording device (like this one) and at the same time as an instrument (like the io dock). Also that io mix isn't available in the EU. :whateva:

One is the io mix with 4 mono tracks (good for recording) the other is the io dock with midi (good for use as instrument). Different devices, dude.

And the io dock was the one I had in my hand and dismissed as too light and not sturdy enough. That io mix thing actually seems a little better in that department, judging from the pictures. But what can you tell from pictures in the end.

I guess it does depend on how someone works.
I would miss the top 4 pads especially for chopping a sample.
I have DJed with my Maschine and using those knobs to control parameters on VST effects is HANDY.
