New Pedal Day - Dice Works Muff Diver
Today (July 9) I got the Muff Diver I won on e-bay on June 23. I sent my paypal and waited. I have heard that Erich at Diceworks was not too much for communication and that was true. All of a sudden the pedal showed up when I was about ready to send him another e-mail asking about it.
All's well that ends well.
This is one great pedal. A muff with a great deal of range of gain. It can go pretty much from a boost to heavy fuzz. It will clean up with the volume control but no where near to the degree of my Dumbox. The original setting has greater range and is thicker and bassier. You can really dig in and bite into the sound of it. The Cornish setting is a bit thinner, more trebly, less bass. At this point I would say that I like the O setting more than the C setting and I think I like it better through a clean amp.
I need to play this more but It is hard to imagine a better, more flexible muff than this. I have not played any of the other boutiques but I have played several recent examples of EH Muffs and this blows them all away.
It is not a particularly attractive pedal but it is solid and cleanly wired. I was surprised at the size of the box as it is pretty big and taller than your usual pedal.
A great pedal and a steal at $125.

Is he only selling his pedals via e-bay?
Congrats - heard nothing but great things about his pedals (though I am still trying to get used to his labeling)

Congrats! I have one of these and really love it. I think your review is pretty dead on. This is one of my favorite fuzzes, but its range seems much more than a standard muff/fuzz. It does have an amazing range and the C/O toggle is a pretty cool feature. Build quality is really good. Maybe not the best looking pedals out there but I actually don't mind the hand lettering, sure stands out from other pedals if nothing else. Like dorfmeister said, this is a steal for $125.
He makes other stuff including the Muff Diver Finale which is said to be 24 pedals in one, all Muff/fuzz variations I believe. LOTS of switches for tweaking. Seemed like overkill for my use so I just went with the reg muff diver.
I got mine via ebay too, I think that's the only way he sells them. His communication could be better, but I read this before from others so it wasn't a surprise. I actually emailed him a few months prior asking if he could build one for me with some custom features, he said no problem but would just need to get a few parts. I emailed back to finalize details and I never heard back from him after, so I decided to just get the one I saw on ebay. When it didn't arrive for almost 2 weeks I sent an email. He responded quickly and the pedal arrived about a week later. Some report a 4-5 week wait. Not bashing him, just a heads up to others. It's a great pedal, just expect to wait for it.

I signed up for his ebay shop to get notifications when they go for sale, but I never have any spare cash when they go up

Yeh, it's odd, he lists stuff on there sporadically. But even when he does it's made to order anyway. So I guess he only lists things when he thinks he'll have time to build them or when he needs the $.

I think with the Dice Works Muff and a B:Assmaster I am permanently set up for fuzz.

High praise for these pedals and I am glad that you are digging them so much!
Honestly, is there ever such a thing as "permantently set up for fuzz"?

There appears to be a Muff Diver Finale on the bay. The clips of it seem to do some fuzzy justice. If it's really 24 pedals in one, then maybe someone should jump on it.
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?

Maybe not but neither are just any fuzz pedal!

He's got a few more pedals on ebay right now, including a muff diver finale...that thing looks crazy.

Re: New Pedal Day - Dice Works Muff Diver
I had my Muff Diver up on the shelf for a while. Even was trying to sell it for a while bit I just pit it in the chain and what a great fuzz....you don't normally think of a muff for versatility but this can go from nearly clean boost up to heavy fuzz, very wide responsive tone control and the switch takes it from classic muff and cuts some bass and gain and gives it a different character---supposed to be based on the Cornish mod done on David Gilmours muff. I think at least for now I can be happy with this as my only fuzz.
