I did too, but nice stackable dirt tones were were always farther up on the list than a dedicated octave tone. I was not expecting to get the amount of help I did from here so I was not very specific about what was most on my mind in the OP.

What are you gonna use for the octave up (or are you forgetting that part of the equation)?

I just realized my Boss PS-6 already does a very nice Octave effect.

I normally have it set to the lovely "Detune" chorus mode so the shifting wasn't on my mind, but since I have no need to play out live currently I can just double-track things with the pitch shifting for when I want an octave up on recordings and the chorus. I will probably get a small octave box for when I start playing out but that is a while from now (I will keep what I learned here in mind though, of course). Or I can just flip the mode on my pedal from detune to octave up or down before I need it in a song.

Hey dude,

I'm a little late to the party here so I won't toss in my 5 cents unless what I expect to happen actually happens: you get the virus. Trying out different fuzztones, mixing them, loving them, growing tired of them, flipping or trading out of pure curiosity is what makes this forum run.

What amp are you using? You might want to use that Euphoria to hammer it's front end for the tone you are looking for. But that will only work with guitar amps, the lower the wattage the better, and it sounds different on each amp.

They're here, and they sound amazing :O Clips will be up in a few days.

I really enjoy how the pedals don't necessarily color the basic tone I had previously, it just makes the whole thing "pop." The Euphoria makes things sparkle and the Black Forest fattens the signal up, while both being on at the same time really just makes the general tone thick like a milkshake.

As for Bass, they really make my Sadowsky both sing and growl at the same time. The effects are very understated on Bass, but they just sound "right." The beautiful thing is that when you push the Euphoria into a slightly overdriven Black Forest you get that Chris Wolstenholme Hysteria tone... tasty.

So far my Chain is: Instrument -> Boss PS-6 (Detune mode) -> Wampler Euphoria (Smooth mode) -> Black Arts Black Forest -> Sansamp Tri-AC (Tweed mode for cleans and overdrive, California mode for high gain) -> ISP Decimator -> Amp / DI / Board

I still need a pedal tuner, and maybe a vintage-style eq. Then maybe the tiny octave box and a juicy compressor to squash the peaks so they aren't so loud. Then finally a really "fun," but genuinely usable effect.

First off though I need to finally shoehorn in my wah pedal between the PS-6 and Euphoria.

Oddly enough I have been looking at low watt tube amps ever since I realized my normal 900W Hybrid amp may just be a tiny bit too loud for most cases and too "clean" for some cases. But as for now, I play both guitar and bass through the same rig (Mesa M9 Carbine, 2x12 cabinet, and pedalboard). It is not a "nice" or "pleasant" (or possibly "legal") rig in the figurative sense, the amp can push enough air to not only make your ears ring, cause your walls to shake, but also can give you a stomach ache if you stand to close. It is so loud and punchy I can out-brutal metal players with an acoustic.

I do plan to eventually get a nice low watt guitar head like the Two-Rock Exo 15 or the Dr.Z Monza/MAZ Jr/M12 or somesuch just to have the complete opposite end of the spectrum at my disposal as well. The idea is to really squeeze those tubes so it creates a natural compression. I want to make the "milkshake" tone I have now into a fullblown, thick "chocolate malt."
