They don't fit my playing style.
I can't make them sound good.
I don't really like how they feel.
And they don't look good when I hold them.
And yet... they're so fuckin' cool.
I think it's mostly the very minimal style of the Tele. There's like NO extra shit on that thing. And the unique, mismatched pickups are neat, too.
I guess I've always thought of the Tele as the black sheep of the guitar world... I know they're popular, and have become even more popular with musicians like us over the last decade or so, but very few of the artists that I really like ever use the damn things.
And there for sure is a certain allure to them when I see those artists, who are mostly known for certain other guitars, playing them... like it just looks so weird and out of the ordinary.

And then I've thought about getting a Telecaster with like different pickups and stuff... I love P-90s, and I think that's about all I could really use anymore... but so like I could put them in a Telecaster, but what would be the point?
I limit myself to a max of TWO electric guitars, 'cuz COME ON. So like ideally it would be great to have a really killer P-90 equipped guitar, and then a different guitar that can do some sounds other than crunchy P-90 stuff. Like a Tele. 'Cuz man I don't like Strats at all.
I think I've found, though, that the Jazzmaster is the juuuuuuust right guitar for me... it's like the greatest rhythm guitar ever. And I've never felt that Teles have been that strong in the rhythm department. I've actually owned two... a MIM from the late 90s and a MIA from the early 00s. They were neat... they just didn't work out. Like I said... they don't fit my style. I decided like a year ago that Teles just aren't for me, but they keep drawing me back. I think it's just a matter of deviance... I love seeing them used in ways that they weren't intended.
I don't know.
I'm ranting and losing steam.
