my girlfriend bought me a EHX freeze as she thought it would be right up my street, it was and she is :-D She also tried to talk me into buying a electromatic gretsch because "it was pretty and i always wanted one" resisting GAs is hard when your g/f is tempting you as well !

Been with the girlfriend for close to 2 years now, she hasn't purchased anything for me as she makes a lot less and is also still in college. However I've given her my very first acoustic that I got when I was around 10, bought her a squier tele and a little fender vibro champ a few weeks ago. Been teaching her to play for a few months now, it gets a bit frustrating at times when I set aside the time for teaching we'll go through it for about 10 minutes and then she wants me to play for her.

Sounds shitty. My family is from Newton, so that's why I was asking.

Ah, I was a pharmacy tech in Wichita for a while. About as close to Newton as I got.

Lots of cool story in here.

My wife has always been awesome about my gear lust. I mean, we're realistic about spending, but as hobbies go, I'm comparatively cheap. She's been more likely to say "why don't you buy a pedal," than to actually go out and get me one, but that's just because she knows that I keep a relatively tight leash on my equipment spending, so the affirmation that it's ok is the important part.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

I feel bad now. Because 'spluring' to my fiance is her getting her nails done every two weeks for $45. My idea of 'splurging' has become selling 3 guitars, 3 pedals, and opening up a credit line to afford an aluminum guitar...

I feel you, dude. My hobbies are significantly more expensive than anything my wife is into. Bass and computers. Not cheap.

She was looking at 'dream' purses and they were like $200 tops. And I was like 'thats it?' Fucking horrible how my view of money has changed. I want to flip some shit and buy one for her

See, though, you can sell your guitar for $1k+ if there's an emergency, whereas your fiancee could never sell her fingernails.
