Thing is, protection diodes only work on dc not on ac. If you put ac through the diodes it will destroy them and carry on through the circuit.
I'd still say it's bolloxed, but it seems eqd are a nice bunch and will help you out:)

No.. I have to disagree here. If there is a protection diode to ground in there and you put AC in, it fries.. but when a diode fries it is like a piece of wire.. so the whole psu is shorted out. Question to OP- does the PSU still work? If it is fried, you might have a chance that the pedal is still good to go with a new diode.
