Ooooo got meeeehhh... In the videos defense they did film it in OK so I guess you take what you can get...

I can tell within a few seconds if a pedal sounds good to me and all the knob twiddlin in China cant change that...

I think the only thing that could have created an even worse reaction was if it featured a woman making drinks and using her body to try and give the viewers boners while listening to the effects...

There's really only one hard and fast rule when making a pedal demo, and that is DEMONSTRATE THE PEDAL. Show me what it is, what it can do, and as a bonus, make me want to find one for myself. The focus of that video became more about the musicians themselves, and at times took on a documentary feel, exploring indie artists. The pedal in question became more of the similarity between the musicians, where if it was a true demo, would've been the focus.

Had they flipped the concept around, focusing on the pedal itself but then showing three different uses for it (making the musicians the secondary element in the vid), you would've had something there. I'm all for creative demos that are more than just someone in their bedroom fiddling with knobs with iffy audio quality. But if you don't offer something else of tangible value (I've been talking a great deal with some instructional designers about this type of thing) that someone leaves with, the video is nothing more than cinematography.

Yes yes all excellent points... I liked that it had samplers and a Jazz and a Gia and feedback and whatever...

It was pretty and I like pretty gear porn... I don't watch gear vids just for the sound... I have a full blown hard-on for gear...

I liked the video/recording quality, and that multiple musicians were involved. Wasn't very good from the typical "show me everything it does" stand point though.
An in between of the two would make for damn fine demos.

It would've been better if they shaved their meta-ironic moustaches.

From a marketing perspective, it was done very well - the execution was pro and visually appealing.

From a gear-head point of view, it sucked dong.

Then tell me, what was the brand name and name of the pedal the three guys used? The execution was great, but they mention the pedal ONCE at the beginning and then drop it, and don't even plug their own website anywhere. I didn't even catch the name of it the first time around, as I'm guessing many others missed too. So really, it's a marketing fail if they are selling a specific effect pedal and people can't remember anything about it. Lots of flash but no real content.
