AN IMPASSIONED PLEA TO THE PEDAL BUILDERS OF EVER NATION!

Post by dorfmeister »

Teaspoon looks great - - - but it also looks to be impossible to get for a reasonable price - - -if I'm wrong show me where to get one! - - - I've of course got a Lo Fi Loop Junky - - - Fantastic - - - I've seen the Aubible Disease Junk Fi.....reasonable price but I have not heard good things about it.

Are any builders inspired to create something in this realm? I am not asking for a clone but rather something inspired by and hopefully better than the teaspoon. What would be the ideal features for such a device? What would be possible without the price skyrocketing? Analog? Digital?
:
I've even done some of the work by coming up with some names for such a pedal.

A Devi Ever Torn Tape Loop?

A Dwarfcraft Reel to Real Chaos?

A Dr. Scientist Cosmic Cassette Deck?

A Fuzzhugger Fangled Frippertron?

A Mellowtone Plasticene Parrot?

A Malekko Rekkorder Malefik?

A Penny Pedals Ragged Recorder?

Who will take up the gauntlet? Who will be the champion that steps forward to lead musicians into a new realm, a paradise of loopy, glitchy ecstacy?

I eagerly await yr. responses!

IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME!

Edit: Oh holy shhhhhh... I totally responded in the wrong thread. I feel like an idiot. That's what you get for having too many tabs open at one time      :picard:

Dude, a ball pit is not... weren't you ever a little kid? Ya know, a ball pit, with the plastic balls and you'd jump in it... it's not a gay bar!

I hear what you are saying, and you are right. Unfortunately it is far beyond me, but I'll say this much. If the biz ever grows to the point I can hire a design team, I'll get right on it!

Yeah, I figured one of the reasons there weren't a lot of these things out there was the complexity of the design.

Devi,

I hope you can get to the point of having a design team because there is a need for more than just the garden variety big brand loopers which seem to be directed at Singer/songwriter/one man/one woman band types rather than experimentalists. I hated the Digitech Looper I had.

Simple, good for mangling tone, able to be used not to sound like everyone else are the most important things for me.

Gee, am I the only one interested in such a thing. :poke: Not much discussion about this. :picard:

I am interested but i'm just trying to think how long it would take me to expand my knowledge from building fuzzes, distortions and overdrives and small delays to a whole looper, the Payback I mentioned to you isn't actually that complex (dunno how long it took to design though, but the inventor is a clever man) I think alot of the problem also stems from the short supply of the chips as many are LoFi and most people (except guitar pedal users) want something that isn't LoFi.

In the next year I could start trying to have a go at designing it as I don't have much else to do, but I don't have alot of money for such large projects at the moment and I hate getting an idea together without being able to make it, something with an ISD Chip from small bear and PT2399 could be nice though... then some kind of simple Op Amp based vibrato ala easy vibe...

I'm guessing it would be easier to do as a digital pedal....and probably more flexible.....and cheaper....don't know about easier.

I've got a lo fi loop junky so I am not sure how much use the Payback would be to me. I would like to get something that would be more like the teaspoon to use in conjuction with the lo fi loop junky I have.

Urm if you know how to write the code for digital then i'm sure it's easier... but no... that would be near impossible for me or most to do with DSP.

I haven't listened to the teaspoon yet, I shall check it out in a bit... :excellent:

I wish the teaspon had an expression pedal that would turn on when you put your foot on it it so you could pitch the loop in whatever way you wanted.

I beleive this may be possible... that or you could buy one of the boss pedals that do that.
