Who do I wish I could sound like? Hands frickin down, Gilmour. His voice is so damn perfect, and he pulled off these amazing harmonies with either Rick (in concert) or with himself (on the records).

In my current band, I do most of the backing vocals and harmonies, and I end up sounding more like the bassist from system of a down

Aww, <3 PJ.
I agree with you about the Elliott Smith thing. I can pull his style off pretty well, however. I really dig Thom Yorke's vocals on Exit Music.. Wish I could do that kind of thing.

But then there's always the Eric Burdon, Jim Morrison, Ian Curtis style that I wish I could pull off, too.
well i guess, but i just don't know.

I can get a pretty good Bradford Cox/Panda Bear/Shoegaze type sound if I use lots of reverb.

WISHES:

Jamie Stewart
Patterson Hood
Marc Paffi

I wish I could do post-hardcore "yelling", like, the good type of screaming. :(

The closest i come is Doug Martsch.

I have a really high pitched annoying voice that is not really great for lead. good for backing. I also try to do Rocketship styled whisper low singing alot. I sound nowhere as cute as Justin when he does it though.

Wishes:
Morrissey

I wish I could sound like Lucas Lanthier from Cinema Strange. He's great. His voice is very androgynous.

I don't really consider myself a singer, but I can do a mean Calvin Johnson. If they had Beat Happening at karaoke I'd be all over that.

I've been told my voice sounds strikingly similar to Robin Pecknold from Fleet Foxes which totally flatters me because I'm still not all that comfortable with my voice. But I'll take the compliment anyway :joy:

+1 on Jeff Buckley...wish I had that kind of control. I've always secretly wanted that cool vibe of Glenn Mercer from the Feelies. and speaking of Mercers, I've always wanted to sound like James Mercer from the Shins...what a voice

i saw jeff at Sin-E, just as he was signing his deal with Sony, it was all the buzz at CMJ that year. i miss being in the record biz and going to CMJ and all that stuff

he was a sweet, gentle soul. we weren't good friends or anything, but i knew him, got to meet him and see him a few times.

i named my daughter "Grace" after his album, and have a tattoo on my arm that is in honor of Jeff.....he made that much of a "dent" on me.

Al Koehn is AWESOME.......if you wanna really get better as a singer, Al is the best in south florida. and totally freaking cool and supportive and amazing as a teacher.

When I sang people said I sounded like Morrissey, and/or David Byrne. I also got alot of Lou Reed, when i didn't feel like singing, and like talk/sang. I honestly don't believe them.

I don't sing any more. I never wished to sound like anyone. I just sang because at that time, girls that sang (in a rock band) were non-existent. I just sang cause no one else would.

If you're speaking tonally.... probably a mix between Daniel Johnston, Craig Nicholls, and Kurt. Jack White and Billy Corgan punctuation wise.
