Lo Fi Loopers/Samplers similar to Squarewave Teaspoon?

Post by dorfmeister »

Teaspoon looks great - - - but it also looks to be impossible to get for a reasonable price - - -if I'm wrong show me where to get one! - - - I've of course got a Lo Fi Loop Junky - - - Fantastic - - - I've seen the Aubible Disease Junk Fi.....reasonable price but I have not heard good things about it.

Is there anything else out there?

Are any builders inspired to create something in this realm? I am not asking for a clone but rather something inspired by and hopefully better than the teaspoon.

A Devi Ever Torn Tape Loop?

A Dwarfcraft Reel to Real Chaos?

A Dr. Scientist Cosmic Cassette Deck?

A Fuzzhugger Fangled Frippertron?

A Mellowtone Plasticene Parrot?

A Malekko Rekkorder Malefik?

A Penny Pedals Ragged Recorder?

Who will take up the gauntlet? Who will be the champion that steps forward to lead musicians into a new realm, a paradise of loopy, glitchy ecstacy?

I eagerly await yr. responses! :thumb: :bob: :omg: :bob: :excellent: :bob: :omg: :bob: :thumb:

IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME!

Build me an analog delay with sound on sound that sounds like an Echoplex and is the size of a double Devi pedal..
Oh with two loops so I can layer three bass parts.

Those are great pedal names. I already have gas for them.

A design by The Tone God exists from DIY stomp boxes exists called the PAYBACk although hard to find the chip for it (can be built if you can it's an Windbonds ISD25XX) he is working to design it for an more available one from Smallbear which I think is what Zach uses aswell.

http://www.geocities.com/thetonegod/pay ... yback.html

On Generalguitargadgets you can buy PCB boards for the mobius trip looper which doesn't have the vibrato function of the Lofi Loop Junky or Payback but is still a LoFi Looper once again using the ISD chip from Smallbearelec.com

Only 2 designs I know of other than those... and there both DIY so unless you can build or get someone to build them up for you, bit useless lol.

That analog delay sounds great. I wonder what it would take to have that kind of functionality.

I would be willing to take something digital as I am sure it would be easier to design in greater functionality at a relatively inexpensive price.

Unfortunately at this point I don't have the ability to DIY or probably the time to develop those skills.

Payback sounds like it could be interesting but it is kind of hard for me to figure out what it can do.

The Teaspoon is digital isn't it? I think probably greater functionality could be had at a lower price and without the parts sourcing issue with digital.

I wish some builders would come into this thread and decide to consider a project like this at least. :poke: :bob: :omg: There is a clear demand for this type of product. Could be an interesting challenge as well as a cash cow! :wow what a fantastic idea you have there:

I can email you a sample of the Payback if you drop me your E-mail, it basically sounds the same as the Lofi loop junky with vibrato and safe etc. but I prefer it and you can get much longer recording times with it (up to about 120 seconds which is the max the larger chip will give but it probably wont actually give the full time) although at the cost of quality.

If you can get hold of the chip i'd be happy to build it up onto the board for you for the cost of parts and a few beers.
