Bass Fuzz?
I play guitar but a friend recently ran into a problem. He Said he needs a Overdrive with distortion for part of his recording. Any one have any ideas I think he's basically looking for one pedal Overdrive stage to Distortion Stage. But if there are two you think will work well together

Jacques Tube Blower will go from cleanish boost through overdrive and into distortion.
It's based on the TS808 but with bass and treble controls and a lot more range.
Sounds really good with bass. Sounds much better than any of the unmodified Boss offerings and doesn't get buzzy sounding.

You're going to have to give a bit more info. Do you want something aggressive? Or are you looking for a milder tone?
I would suggest the MXR Distortion III (which can be had for about $60 used) as a minimally invasive, light OD which you can crank into a decent "distorted" tone.
It is the red box --- not to be confused with the Distortion+
I agree with the above -- try to avoid the mass of generic ts-808 stuff. It's unoriginal.

A FullTone Bass Drive is supposedly quite good.

Malekko B:Assmaster.
Hands down best fuzz (dirt in general) i've ever played on a bass. It's EXTREMELY VERSATILE.
and at the top of my GAS list.

I've got a fuzzbox and i'm not afraid to use it

Re: Bass Fuzz?
I use a Prescription Depth Charge bass fuzz and it's excellent. That being said I am always on the hunt for more. The B:Assmaster is on my wish list, but it's so darn big and I don't have much in the way of real estate on the pedal board....
In terms of OD for bass, I like and use the Fulltone BassDrive 2, the BJFE BBBOD, and am still on a waiting list for the re-release Dredgetone Bass Angler.

I own a B:assmaster, and it's one of my go-to boxes, hands down. Next up is the Cherry Pop, of course, but that's pretty much always full-on fuzz.
I've heard good things about the Wounded Paw Attack Goat, and I believe that has a blend control that lets you go from overdrive to fuzz pretty nicely.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.
