Definitely fuzz. Mostly because it gives me feeling that no other pedal can. It's just a natural thing for me. Fuzz. Life. Fuzz. Death. Fuzz. In that order.

Delay/Verb, modulation and anything that makes me louder...whether fuzz or boost or what have you. Fuzz would be number one, but I can't find a fuzz that doesn't mush up my attack too much. it's great (for me) for certain song sections where I go all gazey, but as a main form of dirt it just destroys my picking "nuances" for lack of a less pretentious lawyer blooz term. Maybe I'm on the wrong website...

i'm going to answer that in both senses of "favorite".
the effect i use the most is reverb. unless i'm playing in a suitable room--and how often does THAT happen?--i've always got some kind of reverb on. otherwise things sound too flat. i came up listening to live albums and to guitarists who used a lot of reverb (often Fender amp reverb) as part of their live and studio sound, so that's what sounds right to me.
the effect i like to play with most is delay. ever since i first heard echo devices when i was a kid i've been fascinated by them, and particularly by the ability to build layers of sound-on-sound. nowadays with delays that are long enough to pseudo-loop with and "real" loopers, i can spend hours in spontaneous composition land.
fuzz is just below delay. i think fuzz is more FUN to play with on a tactile and emotional level--especially when combined with amplifier feedback, which is one of my favorite things on Earth--and is particularly great because it expands the tonal and textural options so much. but delay is just so intriguing to me...i was talking in a different thread about how to me reverb and delay are tools to alter the perception of space and time, and i think that's why i love them so much. they allow me to create an alternate environment with sound.

I too like to mess around with delay and modulation for fun. But I use distortion more than any other pedal because I play with other people right now, so it's usually "Can you get this sound (plays a song clip)" and then I turn on my Box of Rock clone, 9 times out of 10 that works. But If had my own band, it would be fuzz and phaser for more brutal music.
