Agreed.
While I can appreciate them...personally, I still think it's boring to listen to. In person it'd probably be cool, but if I'm in the mood for that kinda music I'd rather listen to someone else.

Coheed and Cambria probably took me 2 or so years to get into. They're now one of my favorite bands.

I still don't get Slowdive or Ride, but I finally did get into Swervedriver.

Anything by Pink Floyd. I try every few years but still don't "get" it. Someday I'll finally come around.

Yup, same. I would also add Explosions to this list.

Also with Pink Floyd - never got them (I hated them, honestly) in high school, but years later I saw a couple friends do an acoustic cover of "Echoes" I was hooked on Meddle for months. Then Animals, and then everything else. So good.

Misfits - Walk among us

Hated this band my whole life. Was always into punk and hardcore but just hated this band with a passion. Then one night of debauchery way later in life made this album and then the band just click.

Skinny Puppy
I bought
Ain't it Dead Yet? and on first listen was like WTF is this noise shit!?
years later I put it on again and it clicked (in fact all their albums have taken multiple listens for me to get into) and I have been hooked ever since

I would also like to add Mr. Bungle to my list.

I had a friend I really respect keep telling me I would love it, even when I kept listening and I didn't, so I went on trying. Eventually it clicked and I thank him mightily for it!
