i must admit that i'm happy to see a zvex love thread along side a zvex hate thread.
not because i think zack is kool and shite (because he obviously has some personality issues) but because no one is jumping in with the shit talk and bringing this thread down.
this is why i like the ILF community.

anyway....

lo fi junky is kool.

What I am finding so cool with the LFLJ is that I can quickly set up these Math/Post/Frippy patterns to play against. I can mess with the loop with the modulation. That ease and the sound of the thing are worth the price of admission ($220 in this case) for me. This is a brilliant creative tool and I can record all of these improvs and then cut them up to form the basis for recorded compositions. I can also send loops out from the daw, through the LFLJ, and then back in to give any sample I like some quavery analog goodness.

I can't really imagine using it with any consistency live.

With all that being said I find Z's behaviour on the boards vexing. How many times on both HCF and TGP has he blown up in a way that was extremely rude and arrogant. I doubt it will kill his business but it sure isn't going to help it.

It is interesting to compare his behaviour to people like Analog Mike or Bjorn Juhl. These guys seem to get that nothing good can come from massive blow-ups on the boards, that people will start to worry that this kind of mountaning from molehills may extend into customer service. No one wants to get yelled at when they have a pedal problem.

Vex seems unable to see the forest for the trees. Despite this he makes some good and innovative pedals - - - the Loop Junky being one of the most interesting for me. This is such a great concept that I wonder why someone (paging Devi Ever, Devi Ever) doesn't come out with something far cheaper that would improve upon it. Certainly this can be done. While ZV's designs are often brilliant they often also lack something that could make them truly useful. :wow what a fantastic idea you have there:

What I have heard on the boards is that the Junk Fi is extremely lo fi. Could be useful but doesn't seem to be a replacement for the LFLJ from what I have heard.

word yea it doesnt seem like the junk fi has all the bells and whistles as the loop junky. the price is pretty right tho. i too must confess that the loop junky is the only zvex pedal ive ever gassed for, but will prolly never own because of hte insane prices....and that the squarewave parade teaspoon really ruined all other loopers for me. damn u squarewave! haha jk!! :animal: :animal:

Say a little more about the Squarewave if you would? What do you like best about it? :bob:

I'll probably eventually get a junk fi though it seems pretty limited in what it can do. That extreme lo-fi could be just what one needs in some contexts though.

I grabbed a "monster" art one on Ebay, two days ago, for $208 and change. An "old" art one went for $237 twenty minutes earlier, but came with the 9V adapter. Hopefully, mine will make it's way from Florida to Los Angeles, quickly.

now that the dust has settled, this is a good time to properly assess Zvex stuff at face-value.
