A while ago I was browsing Craigslist out of boredom and saw that some art school "girl"? posted a personals ad looking for someone who was into b-movies, skateboarding, and proper grammar usage. I nearly died.
Anyway, they never responded. I was honestly kinda bummed out, but it was probably a dude anyway.
WHERE AM I SUPPOSED TO FIND LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE AROUND HERE, THERE'S NO SENSE OF COMMUNITY AT THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
I WANTED TO LIVE IN A DORM AND DO STUPID SHIT, YOU KNOW
I'VE PASSED THAT POINT NOW

Surely someone around here is into pedals and fuzz and noise and rolling down hills like a dumbass and petrichor and realizes that trees and plants and cars and people and jobs and houses and guitars are all pretty fuckin' weird.

my version of this is exascerbated by the fact that i can't find a job, either, so i don't feel like anybody's ever going to want me again. i'm in another of those periods where i'm sleeping constantly because i don't want to see what's coming or what's in front of me.

library jobs are applied for and i haven't heard back yet; i had a phone interview and sent samples to the writer job, but haven't been called back for an on-site interview yet. everything with jobs here takes weeks nowadays...it's not like 10 or 15 years ago when you went to an interview, talked to someone, and were told "you're hired." now you send a resume, they take two weeks sorting through them, call you to tell you they want a phone interview...and in the meantime you haven't worked in twenty-two months.

Good luck man. I hope you get that writing job.

I wish it was still like that with interviews.

i just spent 40 minutes in traffic bumping NIN. i like some of the newer stuff, but way fewer songs per album. and Ghosts is.... a'ight there's some cool stuff, but if i listen to instrumental electro stuff i kinda want more frenetic, skittery, mood and/or melodic and/or beat changes every 14 seconds. i'm a bit ADD in appreciation of Non Vox Musics. i usually either dig verrrry mellow, more Arabic warbling style zen out music, or just banging anger faces.

BANGING. ANGER. FACES.

i'm totally distressed about the jobs shit. and naturally it's the longest fucking day of the year. and i got woken up by the credit card dorks at 9AM wanting money i don't have till next week. but i can't turn the phone off cos of i need to get job calls. so i think i'll set up my DJ CD decks on alternating play, cue up some ambient-series Eno, and go lay the fuck down. sometimes admitting defeat is good strategy.

Word. There's this whole subset of phrases people tack on to the end of phrases to shield themselves from reprisal:

"... nuff said."
"... just sayin'."
"... no offense."
"... bless [his/her/your/their] heart." (colloquial only in the southern US)

I've got a co-worker that's a "... just sayin'" pro. Following up insulting, homophobic, and otherwise derogatory comments with "... just sayin'," doesn't make them any less vile.

lol, it's almost as bad as "I'm not racist (etc.) but..." half the time when people say that the comment that follows doesn't even seem racist (maybe just not quite "PC"), but by bringing up racism just makes you seem racist.

Of course there is the other half of the time when they totally are racist.

I hate small-town America.

Half the time? I've NEVER heard anyone say anything that wasn't completely racist after "I'm not racist but...". When people say it all I hear is "imma say something racist, just a heads up!"

That and when people say/type "Period" drives me crazy for some reason.
