Console II and Dr. Scientist!

Post by codetocontra »

I know Ryan is busy with the Cosmic Chorus revision, a CV controller, and thinking about a new delay...but I just read here and here that Dr. Scientist is on the list of builders to work on the Devi Ever Console II.

So...whatcha doing Doctor?

Well, about a year ago, there was a huge list of companies that would support the console with cartridges, I guess he is again interested..

I think it's a really cool project for sure, I'm excited to get a Console II! Seems like a lot of fun to me!

I have a few ideas for Console cartridges.. they'd be things that I wouldn't be making in pedal form but I think they'd be useful for the Console..

I think it could be a great platform to bring back the Cleanness and/or the Sunny Day Delay.

I also think an optical noise gate cartridge could be handy and I wouldn't mind making that. Or maybe a compander based noise reduction system.. I'm thinking some kind of noise gate/reduction could be useful since there's gonna be a lot of dirt/fuzz cartridges presumably. That's why I think the Cleanness would be a great fit too, really opens up the versatility with other dirt/fuzz.

I really don't support Devi stuff, but if Ryan's in, maybe I'm in?

I really like this idea of the Console. But I am unsure I can donate to the Kickstarter. Not really a bad thing I guess, because they are expected to be delivered by May 2013 and I suck at patiently waiting. Plus, Id really like to see exactly what all the other builders will make.

The one idea that I come back to is getting a Console III and just using that and a tuner as a minimalist board for guitar, or maybe even vocals.

We're hoping to have them all out by x-mas, and to help motivate developers to start releasing carts in 2013. :)

Check out www.consolefx.com forums for more deets on people developing carts. I think we'll be seeing a lot coming from the DIY community as much as the beautiful brains of people like the good Dr. :joy:
